Bears LB Alec Ogletree (ankle) is inactive for tonight's game against the Steelers. Danny Trevathan should start in his place, in case you're left needing a replacement. S Eddie Jackson (hamstring) is also inactive, as expected. He entered the night doubtful.

The Bears have ruled EDGE Khalil Mack (foot) out for Monday night's game against the Steelers, the 2nd straight game he will have missed. LB Alec Ogletree (knee) is questionable and S Eddie Jackson (hamstring) is doubtful. Ogletree missed practice all week and doesn't look like a good bet. If he sits, Danny Trevathan would get the start in his place. Jackson's expected absence makes DeAndre Houston-Carson a good IDP option.

The Bears have activated LB Danny Trevathan from IR. The veteran has been there since the start of the season for a knee injury. Alec Ogletree has been playing in his absence and might not relinquish the job. DC Sean Desai said this week, per SI.com: "Those kind of things will be decided on a game-to-game basis." We’ll stick with projecting Ogletree as the starter for this week, though there’s clearly more risk to his role now

The Giants have cut LB Alec Ogletree. The unsurprising move clears a bunch of cap space, as Ogletree was due to count more than $10 million against the cap this year and next. It's unsurprising because Ogletree isn't a special player, consistently delivering better fantasy numbers than he does real-life performance. The 28-year-old figures to catch on with another team, though, and we wouldn't be surprised to see him back in a starting lineup by September. The Giants, meanwhile, look thin at ILB and figure to address the position this offseason. The top returning member of the group looks like 2019 fifth-rounder Ryan Connelly, who had worked his way into the starting lineup before tearing an ACL in Week 4. As long as he's ready in time, Connelly should be a 2020 IDP factor.

Giants LB Alec Ogletree (back) is active for today's game against the Eagles. He's a lower-level IDP option. CB Sam Beal (shoulder) is inactive, leaving an already terrible secondary without a starter. Slot CB Corey Ballentine (back) is active after arriving questionable.

Giants LB Alec Ogletree put in a full practice Tuesday, his 1st since suffering a hamstring injury in the 1st half of the Week 3 win at Tampa Bay. We'll see about Ogletree's status when the game reports come out Wednesday, but the veteran seems to be on track for Thursday night's clash with the Patriots.

The Giants have ruled ILBs Alec Ogletree (hamstring) and Tae Davis (concussion) out for Sunday's game against the Vikings. That leaves David Mayo as the top guy inside. We've moved Mayo up the LB rankings. But the situation at LB also helps the tackle outlook for Giants safeties Jabrill Peppers and Antoine Bethea.

Giants LB Alec Ogletree left in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game against the Buccaneers with a left hamstring injury. He's questionable to return.

The Giants have ruled ILB Alec Ogletree out for the 2nd straight week with his concussion. That should mean more playing time again for LB B.J. Goodson. He cracked 80% playing time last week for just the 2nd time all season but collected a mere 6 tackles (4 solo). Goodson certainly presents upside beyond that with Ogletree out but isn't a lock for big IDP production.

The Giants have ruled out MLB Alec Ogletree for Sunday's game in Indianapolis because of a concussion. Ogletree's absence should mean more playing time for LB B.J. Goodson. The Giants' other ILB starter played 87% of the snaps the last time Ogletree missed a game and didn't reach 57% in any other contest until last week (when he hit 65%).

The Giants have ruled ILB Alec Ogletree out for Sunday's game against Washington with a hamstring injury. That will leave ILB B.J. Goodson wearing the green dot and likely playing at least a near-full snap share. We've added Goodson to the Week 8 LB rankings, and he'll carry tackle upside beyond his ranking in what could/should be a heavy dose of Adrian Peterson.

ESPN and NFL Network report that the Rams have reached a deal to trade LB Alec Ogletree to the Giants for a pair of draft picks. Ogletree will obviously start for his new team and could settle into either the middle or the weak side. The Rams, meanwhile, will now have an ILB slot to fill next to Mark Barron. They'll also look to replace OLB Robert Quinn this offseason after trading him to the Dolphins last month. There's plenty of IDP production potential available to Ogletree with the Giants, behind a solid D-line and amid what has been a weak LB corps.

Rams ILB Alec Ogletree is questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles with the hyperextended elbow he suffered last week. Ogletree returned to practice Friday for just a limited workout, but the Orange County Register reports that HC Sean McVay said afterward he expects Ogletree to play. Make sure an insurance option is available if you plan to use Ogletree in your IDP lineups, however.

Rams LB Alec Ogletree left Sunday's win over the Cardinals with an elbow injury and did not return. We'll look for further word on the injury today.

Update: The early diagnosis was a hyper-extended left elbow. Ogletree said after the game that he expects to play against the Eagles in Week 14, according to ESPN's Alden Gonzalez.

The Rams will switch their base defensive front to a 3-4 under new DC Wade Phillips, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. That could mean significantly different roles for a number of front-seven players. The most affected in fantasy terms will likely be Robert Quinn, who figures to move from DE to OLB. If that designation changes for 2017 on most fantasy sites, then his IDP ceiling will come down considerably. Aaron Donald will move from his 3-technique DT spot, but he'll retain DL eligibility. Phillips told the Daily News that if Donald doesn't fit your system, then your system isn't working. We'll trust the seasoned veteran DC to put the stud lineman in position to make plays. LBs Alec Ogletree and Mark Barron will face a big change as well, which could include taking on a lot more blockers in the run game. This will be a key defense to look at as we head toward the summer, regardless of your fantasy football format.

The Rams on Wednesday reached deals with OLB Mark Barron and DE William Hayes that make them look like 2016 starters. Barron got $45 million on a 5-year deal, with $20 million guaranteed. HC Jeff Fisher said after releasing MLB James Laurinaitis last month that he planned to move OLB Alec Ogletree inside and keep Barron at the weak-side spot he played after Ogletree got hurt last year. Barron should be an IDP stud in any league that keeps a DB designation on him. He should see a switch to LB in many cases, though, which will ding his value a bit. Hayes got a $17.5 million, 3-year deal with $10 million guaranteed and another $3.5 million available in incentives. He'll turn 31 in May and thus might not work as a long-term starter, but he's the favorite to take over Chris Long's vacated left DE job. Look for Hayes to at least match his career high of 7 sacks from 2012, his 1st season with the Rams.

The Rams have released MLB James Laurinaitis and DE Chris Long. Laurinaitis spent the past 7 years starting every game for St. Louis but isn't a special talent at this point -- at least not enough to be worth the $5.25 million in space his ouster cleared under the salary cap. Long will turn 31 in March and started just 11 games over the past 2 seasons because of injuries. He also totaled only 4 sacks over that stretch. The Rams' top 2 backups at DE -- William Hayes and Eugene Sims -- will hit free agency in March, so we'll see what the team does at that position. According to ESPN's Nick Wagoner, St. Louis plans to move OLB Alec Ogletree to the middle and try to re-sign S/LB Mark Barron to continue playing the weak-side LB spot that he took over when Ogletree got hurt last season.
