The Falcons cut WRs Auden Tate and Geronimo Allison -- among others -- Tuesday. Each guy has had moments where he stirred minor fantasy interest with previous teams, but neither generated buzz this summer.
The Falcons on Monday announced the signing of WR Auden Tate. The former 7th-round pick caught 61 passes across 4 seasons with the Bengals. Most of those came in 2019, when Tate posted a 40-575-1 receiving line. He might remain fantasy irrelevant in Atlanta, but the signing is worth noting because the entire Falcons WR depth chart is currently occupied by shrug emojis. Atlanta also announced the re-signing of Qadree Ollison, who figures to battle Damien Williams for the #3 RB spot (barring an upgrade via the NFL Draft).
Bengals WR Tee Higgins (shoulder) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Steelers. Auden Tate figures step in as Cincinnati’s #3 WR but would be a desperation fantasy play. Higgins’ absence frees up a bunch of targets for WRs Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd.
ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Bengals WR Tee Higgins (shoulder) is not expected to play vs. the Steelers today. Higgins is listed as doubtful, so no surprise there. Auden Tate is the favorite to move into Cincinnati's 3-WR sets but isn't a viable fantasy play. WRs Ja'Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd should pick up extra targets with Higgins out.
Bengals WR Tee Higgins (shoulder) is listed as doubtful for this weekend’s game vs. the Steelers. HC Zac Taylor said Friday that he wants to wait to see how Higgins feels on Sunday before ruling him out -- but he’s obviously a long shot. Higgins’ absence would elevate WR Auden Tate to the #3 WR spot and free up a bunch of targets for WRs Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd.
The Bengals selected LSU QB Joe Burrow with the 1st pick of the 2020 NFL Draft. Burrow looked like a mid- to late-round prospect at this time a year ago. He redshirted his 1st season at Ohio State and then backed up J.T. Barrett for the next 2. Burrow transferred to LSU in 2018, when he mustered just 2,894 passing yards with 16 TDs on a 58% completion rate and 7.6 yards per attempt. Then came a massive 2019: 5,671 yards, 60 TDs, just 6 INTs, a 76% completion rate and 10.8 yards per attempt. Burrow received the highest passing grade from Pro Football Focus since the site started grading college players in 2014. We could point out the fact that the breakout season came as a 22-year-old, 5th-year senior playing with a loaded group of weapons. But watch Burrow and it’s tough to not fall in love. He has incredible pocket presence and mobility, is pinpoint accurate to all levels of the field and has underrated athleticism, totaling 767 rushing yards and 12 TDs over the past 2 seasons. He’ll be under center for Cincinnati come Week 1, whether or not QB Andy Dalton is traded. Burrow will have a nice group of weapons at his disposal in A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd, John Ross, Auden Tate and Joe Mixon. Hopefully the Bengals use the rest of this draft to bolster their offensive line.
The Bengals have placed WR Auden Tate on IR with his sprained MCL. It's not a serious injury, but there are only 3 weeks left in Cincinnati's season. Tate turned in an encouraging 2nd season, currently ranking 2nd on the Bengals with 40 catches and 575 receiving yards. We'll see what the team does at the position this offseason, but Tate could be among the top 3 on the depth chart in 2020. It'll be Tyler Boyd, John Ross and Alex Erickson as the top 3 WRs for the rest of this year.
Bengals WR Auden Tate has been diagnosed with a sprained left MCL, according to ESPN'S Ben Baby. There's no timeline yet for Tate's return, but consider him unlikely to play against the Patriots this weekend. That should mean more action for WR John Ross, but he's not a fantasy option vs. New England. That could change in a Week 16 matchup against the Dolphins.
Bengals WR Auden Tate injured his knee in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game in Cleveland and is officially doubtful to return. That could mean more action for WR John Ross, who returned from his collarbone injury today. We'll update Tate's status when we learn more.
Bengals WR Auden Tate (concussion) is active for today’s game against the Steelers. He’ll continue to serve as Cincinnati’s #2 WR but isn’t a recommended fantasy play in this tough matchup.
Bengals WR Auden Tate (concussion) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game against the Steelers after returning to a limited practice on Friday. We'll see if he can get full clearance before Sunday, but Tate isn't much of a fantasy option in this tough matchup.
Bengals HC Zac Taylor said Monday that WR Auden Tate has been diagnosed with a concussion and a cervical strain. We'll keep an eye on him this week, but consider him unlikely to play against the Steelers on Sunday.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that the Bengals believe WR Auden Tate avoided a serious injury when he took a shot to the head in the loss to Oakland. He flew back with the team to Cincinnati and will be re-evaluated on Monday. We should get another update then.
Bengals WR Auden Tate was carted off the field in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game against the Raiders after taking a hit to the head. We'll pass along an update on his status as soon as we get one.
The Bengals have placed WR John Ross (shoulder) on IR. It's unclear if he's a candidate to return, but he's out for at least the next 8 weeks. Ross can be dropped from redraft rosters. Cincinnati moves forward with Tyler Boyd, Auden Tate and Damion Willis atop the WR depth chart -- until A.J. Green is ready to return from his ankle injury.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that Bengals WR John Ross is expected to miss "multiple games" with the shoulder injury he suffered late in Monday night's loss to the Steelers. "Could be in the range of a month or so," Garafolo adds. Cincinnati has a Week 9 bye, so it's possible Ross is sidelined until Week 10. With WR A.J. Green still out, the Bengals are down to Tyler Boyd, Auden Tate and Damion Willis as their top 3 WRs.
Bengals WR A.J. Green will avoid surgery on his injured toe, according to multiple reports. He's expected to miss at least 2 games, however, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. WR Tyler Boyd has already drawn 22.3% of Cincinnati targets on the season and will be an even stronger weekly volume bet for as long as Green's out -- especially this week against the favored Saints and their weak secondary. Green's absence also adds target upside to the Cincinnati backfield and TE C.J. Uzomah. WR John Ross returned to practice Monday after missing Week 8 with a groin injury. We'll see if he's ready to play against New Orleans. Alex Erickson and Cody Core sit next on the WR depth chart. Cincinnati also promoted rookie WR Auden Tate from the practice squad Monday.
The Bengals selected Florida State WR Auden Tate with the 4th-to-last pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. Tate bombed his Combine workout, plodding to a 4.68-second 40 time and finishing with a 3rd percentile SPARQ score. He’ll struggle to create separation as a pro but does have some intriguing contested-catch ability. Tate goes 6’5, 228 pounds with 92nd percentile arm length, strong hands and nice body control. Per Pro Football Focus, he hauled in 66.7% of his contested targets last year — 6th best in the country. But Tate’s bottom-barrel measurables — plus the fact that he’s a 7th-rounder — make him a long shot for fantasy value.
