Chiefs DT Chris Jones was away from the team Thursday because of close contact with a staff member who tested positive for COVID-19. But NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Jones has been cleared and is set to practice Friday. So the star DT should be good to go for Week 9 IDP lineups.
The Chiefs have applied the franchise tag to DT Chris Jones. It was the expected move, to keep 1 of the team's top defensive players from hitting free agency. When healthy, Jones is a top-20 fantasy D-linemen and 1 of the top fantasy DTs available. He'll turn just 26 in July.
Chiefs DT Chris Jones (calf) is active for today’s game against the Titans. That’s a big boost to K.C.’s run defense and pass rush
Chiefs DT Chris Jones (calf) is inactive for today's game against the Texans. That leaves the Kansas City D-line without a top run defender and a key component in the pass rush. Jones also missed the Week 6 meeting, in which Texans RB Carlos Hyde tallied 116 yards on 26 carries. Today's matchup gets better for Hyde with Jones out.
Chiefs DT Chris Jones is questionable for Sunday's game against the Texans. Jones sustained a calf injury in Thursday's practice and then missed Friday's workout. Jones missed 3 games earlier this season, a span that included losses to Houston and Green Bay. Jones' absence would hurt both the run defense and the pass rush. We'll see about his availability Sunday afternoon.
The Chiefs get DT Chris Jones back from a groin injury for today's game against the Vikings. He had missed the past 3 games. DE Frank Clark (neck) and CB Kendall Fuller (thumb) are inactive once again, though.
Chiefs DE Frank Clark (neck), CB Kendall Fuller (thumb) and DT Chris Jones (groin) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings. Jones put in full practices Thursday and Friday and seems likely to return after missing the past 3 games. Clark made only a limited Friday practice. Fuller practiced on a limited basis all week and should also be ready. We'll check the status on each guy Sunday morning.
The Chiefs have ruled DT Chris Jones (groin), DE Frank Clark (neck) and CB Kendall Fuller (thumb) out for Sunday's game against the Packers.
Chiefs LB Anthony Hitchens put in full practices Tuesday and Wednesday, and the team left him off the final injury reports. He should be set to return Thursday night against the Broncos from the groin injury that cost him Week 6. That will push Ben Niemann back to a small role. He played just 13, 15 and 13 snaps the 3 games before Hitchens left early in Week 5. The Chiefs will miss CB Kendall Fuller (thumb) and DT Chris Jones (groin) against Denver, however. CB Bashaud Breeland is questionable for the game despite not having an injury. He did not travel with the team, but the Broncos have so far given no details on the corner's situation.
The Chiefs have ruled DT Chris Jones (groin) out for Sunday's game against the Texans. LB Anthony Hitchens is questionable with his own groin injury. He put in limited practices all week after leaving last week's game for good in the 1st half. We'll see about his status Sunday morning. If Hitchens doesn't play, Ben Niemann would fill in at near full time.
Chiefs DT Chris Jones suffered a groin injury in the 3rd quarter of Sunday night's game against the Colts. The team quickly ruled Jones out, which suggests the issue could be significant. We'll see about Jones' availability for an upside Week 6 matchup with the Texans.
Update: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Jones is expected to miss further time and is considered "week to week." Don't expect to have him for the upside matchup with the Texans this week.
Chiefs DE Chris Jones and OLB Dee Ford got ejected from Sunday's win over the Jaguars. Jones got booted for throwing a punch. Ford got the hook for committing 2 personal-foul penalties. We'll see if either will miss further time via suspension.
The Chiefs spent the 37th overall pick of the NFL Draft on DL Chris Jones. It was K.C.'s 1st selection after the team traded out of Round 1 with San Francisco. Jones could play DE in the Chiefs' 3-4 front and/or potentially over at NT should Dontari Poe leave after this final year on his contract. Jones didn't tally more than 3 sacks in any college season and doesn't look like a strong IDP candidate for fantasy football owners.
