Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot), WR Danny Amendola (knee) and RB Dion Lewis (knee) were all placed on active/PUP list to open training camp. None of this comes as a surprise, and all 3 are eligible to be activated at any point and play Week 1. None are guaranteed to be ready at that point, though. We'll continue to track the progress of all 3 guys. They combined for 162 catches last year -- 40% of the team total.

Patriots WR Danny Amendola had offseason surgeries on his knee and ankle, according to insider Jeff Howe.  Amendola had a bone spur removed from his ankle.  The knee was a "clean up" procedure and was more serious than the ankle, per Howe.  Amendola is still rehabbing and has no firm timetable for return.  "There's hope Amendola will be ready for training camp but it's way too early to know if Week 1 is even a guarantee," says Howe.  Remember that Pats WR Julian Edelman recently underwent foot surgery, leaving New England's WR corps in flux.  Malcolm Mitchell and Chris Hogan look like interesting late-round fliers in fantasy drafts.

Patriots WR Danny Amendola has accepted a pay cut to remain with the team, according to insider Mike Garafolo.  His new deal will pay him $7.35 million over the next 2 years.  Amendola hauled in 65 balls for 648 yards and 3 TDs last season, but he'll need to hold off additions Chris Hogan and Malcolm Mitchell for snaps and targets in 2016.

The Patriots are set to sign Bills WR Chris Hogan to a 3-year, $12 million offer sheet, "barring a late snag," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.  The Bills will have 5 days to decide whether they want to match the offer.  Hogan played a bit role in Buffalo the past 2 years but hauled in 64.2% of his targets.  He's exactly the type of player whose talent could be maximized in New England.  If the Pats land Hogan, it could mean the end of WR Danny Amendola.

He played through his knee issue in last week's game and should be find to use as you normally would have in your fantasy football lineup. New England's lacking run game and Denver's top-shelf rush defense should produce plenty of Patriots passing volume today, which would boost Amendola's PPR ceiling.

The fact that WR Julian Edelman has already been ruled out will make Amendola worth waiting for in PPR leagues, especially with the 1 p.m. ET kickoff. He will carry some re-injury risk but did put in limited practices all week. We'll keep any eye on his status through the weekend.

The Boston Herald reports that Patriots WR Danny Amendola "might miss some time to close out the regular season, but should be good to go for the playoffs," according to a source. Amendola re-injured his left knee in Sunday's win, which clinched a 1st-round by for New England. It seems like we should expect him to at least miss Week 16, with the finale also in question. The situation should leave more targets for players such as RB James White and WR Brandon LaFell. It's tough to trust any Patriots options beyond that -- or even to trust LaFell, for that matter.
