Patriots WR Danny Amendola (groin) is listed as doubtful for Week 2.  It's confirmation that he's a long shot to play against the Jets on Thursday night.  The opener reminded us of the good (10 catches) and bad (injury-prone) that comes with owning Amendola in fantasy.  He'll have 10 days to get healthy in time for Week 3.  Meanwhile, Julian Edelman will step in as New England's slot receiver on Thursday night.  He's an intriguing WR3 option, especially in PPR leagues.

Patriots WR Danny Amendola was officially listed as limited in Tuesday's practice.  He wasn't spotted in the walkthrough, but remember that the media is only allowed to watch the first few minutes of practice.  It's unclear what Amendola exactly did today, but we shouldn't rule him out for Thursday night's game just yet.  We'll have another update tomorrow.

Pats WR Danny Amendola (groin) wasn’t spotted for the start of the teams’ walk-through on Tuesday.  New England plays Thursday, so Amendola will need to beat the clock.  As beat writer Jeff Howe remarks, it's "hard to imagine him playing in the actual game” if he can’t at least observe practice.  We’ll be sure to update his status leading up to kickoff.

UPDATE: NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport says Amendola is “almost certain” to miss Thursday’s game.  He’d likely be ready for a Sunday or Monday tilt, but it looks like the short week will hurt him.  His absence would force waiver wire darling Julian Edelman into a featured role.  Consider him a worthy plug-'n-play WR3.

The Patriots listed WR Danny Amendola as “limited” on the Week 2 injury report.  New England didn’t practice today but needed to release the report because they face the Jets on Thursday night.  Regardless, it’s an encouraging sign.  Amendola played through his groin injury against the Bills and should be fine to face the rival Jets.

Bills S Jairus Byrd is inactive for today's clash with the Patriots as he deals with plantar fasciitis.  His absence along with that of #1 CB Stephon Gilmore only further helps a matchup that would have looked good anyway for Tom Brady and the Patriots' receiving options.  If you drafted Byrd in your IDP league, it's OK to go ahead and check the waiver wire for a better DB option.  We're worried about his 2013 outlook as he begrudgingly plays under the franchise tag.

As expected, Patriots WR Danny Amendola (groin) is active for today's game against the Bills.  All indications are that the groin won't be an issue. We consider Amendola a must-start against a banged-up Bills secondary.

Patriots WR Aaron Dobson (hamstring) is out for today's game against the Bills.  He was able to put in limited practices this week, so he has a good chance to be ready for Week 2.  His absence today will mean more action for WRs Julian Edelman and Josh Boyce.  But starters Danny Amendola and Kenbrell Thompkins are the only recommended fantasy starters.

I’m just ready to go.”  New England annually loads up their injury report.  (Wes Welker was almost always listed as questionable.)  All indications are that Amendola's groin is a non-issue.  Get him into your Week 1 fantasy lineup for a dream matchup against a Bills secondary missing CB Stephon Gilmore and S Jairus Byrd.

Patriots WR Danny Amendola was limited in Wednesday's practice with a groin injury.  It's the same issue he's been dealing with for the past couple weeks.  And the same issue that was deemed not a "long-term concern" by insider Mike Reiss.  It's likely that the Pats are just limiting Amendola's reps.  As long as he didn't suffer a setback, he should be ready to roll for Sunday's opener against the Bills.  We'll continue to track his status.

Patriots insider Mike Reiss says WR Danny Amendola appears to be in "tip top shape."  He was held out of New England's 3rd exhibition with a minor injury.  He likely would have played through it if it was a regular season game.  Amendola returned to practice this week and will be all systems go for a juicy Week 1 matchup against the Bills.

Patriots WR Danny Amendola returned to practice on Monday after sitting out all last week.  Of course, the Pats never divulged any details about what was ailing Amendola.  We heard it was a minor ankle or foot issue.  The fact that he's back on the field is a sign that he's in no danger of missing Week 1.  We never lowered Amendola in our WR rankings.

The Patriots still haven't revealed what kept WR Danny Amendola sidelined this week.  But insider Mike Reiss hears that it's an ankle or foot issue.  Reiss adds that the Pats don't have any "long-term concerns" and that Amendola is "fully expected" to be ready for Week 1.  The situation is worth tracking over the next couple weeks, but we're not adjusting our projections for Amendola.

Patriots WR Danny Amendola has missed the past 2 days of practice.  Not surprisingly, the team hasn't released any details.  But insider Mike Reiss hears that it's a "minor injury issue that is not head-related."  There "isn't cause for major concern," Reiss adds.  It doesn't sound like Amendola is in any danger of missing Week 1.  He's worth keeping an eye on, though, considering his injury history.

Patriots WR Danny Amendola has quickly developed a top-notch rapport with QB Tom Brady.  He's impressed HC Bill Belichick, too.  "He's become a very dependable player for us," Belichick said. "He doesn't make many mental errors. He's a guy who is usually in the right spot and has a good understanding of defenses and what he's supposed to do. You can tell he's been in the league for four years." Amendola has drawn nothing but rave reviews since signing with the Patriots.  We continue to think he's in store for a big 2013 season.

Patriots insider Ben Volin believes WR Danny Amendola "can very much replicate Wes Welker if he can stay healthy."  Durability is the only thing standing in the way of Amendola and a huge fantasy season.  He's quickly developed a rapport with QB Tom Brady.  “I think he and Tommy have established a certain chemistry between them,” owner Robert Kraft said. “I’m really happy to see the physical connection that they seem to have made.”  Welker was a top-12 fantasy WR in 4 of his 5 seasons in New England.  Amendola is plenty capable of finishing that high in 2013.

Patriots beat writer Ben Violin writes that WR Danny Amendola is the "one bright spot" in the WR group and is "clearly the most polished receiver on the field."  It's no surprise that the talented Amendola is making his presence felt early amidst an inexperienced WR corps.  Violin feels that Amendola could easily reach 100 catches working in the slot position.  Wes Welker's replacement certainly has the most fantasy upside of any pass-catcher on the field in Foxborough right now.  DS insiders can see what kind of season we've projected for him in our 2013 WR rankings.

We just updated our projections for the Aaron Hernandez-less Patriots.  New England suddenly has one of the weakest pass-catching corps in the league.  4 of last year’s top 5 pass-catchers are now gone (Welker, Lloyd, Hernandez and Woodhead).  The other, Rob Gronkowski, is questionable for the start of the season.  Tom Brady is facing a tall task.  We moved him down our QB rankings.  Meanwhile, WRs Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman both moved up.  Amendola should be a target monster in his debut season with the Pats.  And reports out of minicamp had him clicking with Brady.  We’re interested to see what kind of role Edelman plays in 2013.  It looked like he was taking over for Welker as the primary slot receiver early last season.  But the biggest winner from the Hernandez release is TE Jake Ballard.  He’s nowhere near as talented as Hernandez but could post useful fantasy numbers if New England continues to deploy as many 2-TE sets as they have over the past few years.  Draft Sharks Insiders can click here to view our updated Patriots projections.

ESPN Boston highlights WR Danny Amendola as one of the most impressive Patriots in spring practices.  Amendola reportedly has a "firm grasp" on the playbook and has been "the best skill player on the field."  He's looked "quick, shifty, reliable catching the football and fast down the field."  The reports concludes that Amendola "has the makings of a big-time weapon for this offense."  We love this guy's talent and fit in New England's passing attack.  The only real concern is durability.  Amendola has missed 20 games over the past 2 seasons.  If he can stay on the field, though, there's top 15 upside here, especially in PPR fantasy leagues.
