Raiders RB Darren McFadden (knee) has already been ruled out for the team's Week 7 game against the Jets.  It sounds like he'll be held out for Week 8 too.  The Raiders are off Week 9, so a return for Week 10 against the Chiefs seems likely.  RB Justin Fargas is expected to start in the meantime.

ESPN News is reporting that Darren McFadden will miss the next 2-4 weeks with a torn meniscus. He'll undergo surgery on Tuesday.  Even on the Raiders bench, he can't do much worse than the 2 combined yards he had in Week 4.

Raiders RB Darren McFadden (knee) will miss this Sunday's game with the Eagles.  There's no real timetable for his return, but he should be healthy enough to play no later week 10 -- after their week 9 bye.  Justin Fargas and Michael Bush will split carries again this week. and aren't recommended fantasy plays.

Raiders RB Darren McFadden had an uneventful afternoon against the Saints.  He rushed 3 times for 0 yards and caught 3 balls for 21 yards.  The Raiders were smoked 45-7, and the offense never got in rhythm.  We're just hoping this performance drops McFaddens's ADP a bit.  We still love him as a RB2.

The Raiders have officially named Darren McFadden their starting RB. This was really just a formality at this point. McFadden could see up to 20 carries per game this season behind an under-rated offensive line. He'll be plenty involved in the passing game too. He's a solid RB2.

The skills of Raiders RB Darren McFadden were briefly on display last night in the Raiders preseason opener against the Cowboys.  McFadden carried the ball 4 times for 63 yards, including an explosive 45-yard run.  If there was any doubt that McFadden would be the Raiders starting RB it was erased last night.

Raiders RB Darren McFadden says that the injuries that plagued him last season are behind him and that he is more comfortable with the Raiders offense this year. "I'm looking forward to seeing how much more they want to put me out there," McFadden said. “But I think you're going to see me a lot more this year.” There aren’t many 4th or 5th round picks with more upside than Run DMC.

According to the Sacramento Bee, Darren McFadden was getting extended reps at WR in Wednesday's practice. The Raiders coaches realize that getting McFadden open in space could result in some big plays. Sounds like a good idea for now.

Raiders 2nd-year RB Darren McFadden has looked good in minicamp, according to beat writer David White. McFadden is battling veteran RB Justin Fargas for carries, but the former Razorback wasn’t drafted 4th overall last year to ride the pine. He’s a home run threat any time he has the ball in his hands and should be given a chance to be Oakland’s go-to guy this year. But as with Fargas, D-Mac needs to stay out of the trainer’s room to gain trust in the coaching staff.

According to NFL.com, FB Lorenzo Neal was in command of his role in the running game during OTAs. Although he is 38 years old, Neal is in phenomenal shape and should be able to open holes consistently for Darren McFadden. Neal has been leading RBs to big seasons for well over a decade.

Raiders RB Darren McFadden underwent minor shoulder surgery just after the conclusion of his rookie season and now says he is "healthy again" and "ready to go." McFadden struggled through a difficult 1st year in which he missed 3 games and was limited in a handful of others with 2 separate cases of turf toe. After being picked #4 overall in last year's draft, McFadden has plenty to prove in 2009.

RB Darren McFadden had to undergo "minor" shoulder surgery this month. He was beat up last year with the shoulder and 2 turf toes. McFadden still managed to post a 10-yard play every 5.68 times he touched the ball, 3rd best rate among all RBs. He could be a big sleeper going into 2009 fully healthy. Justin Fargas is coming off another knee injury and could be released. Fargas is also linked to some YouTube video where a rapper named "Yukmouth" is seen smoking dope at what is reportedly Fargas' house (?). Michael Bush ran for 177 yards in the season finale at Tampa. His job is safe. Bush & McFadden could form a lethal platoon like the Titans or Panthers have.  

The Raiders will interview ex-Rams HC Scott Linehan for their vacant offensive coordinator job. Linehan & Tom Cable were teammates at the University of Idaho. Oakland still hasn't settled on a head coach. At first it seemed like Kevin Gilbride might get it, but now it appears Cable might keep the gig. He took over for Lane Kiffin last year and went 4-8, not bad for the Raiders.

The Raiders officially named Tom Cable the franchise's 17th head coach on Wednesday. As interim head coach last year Cable made the Raiders competitive, going 4-8, including a huge win over Tampa Bay in week 17. They also whipped Denver 31-10 in week 12.

Oakland QB JaMarcus Russell has asked HC Tom Cable to play RB Darren McFadden more vs. Houston. "That's on coach. He's seen that," Russell said. "A lot of people have probably been talking about it. When the ball is in No. 20's hands, it is fun to watch. I'm pretty sure he might work on getting him some touches early in the game and go from there."

The Oakland Tribune reports Raiders RB Darren McFadden is "still hobbling and not close to 100 percent" on that turf toe. He's actually looked pretty nimble the last couple weeks. We'd bet some kind of special orthotic shoe is slowing him a bit.

Raiders RB Darren McFadden (toe) practiced fully Friday. He's probable. Life in fantasy land would be so much better if McFadden was set for 20 carries at Denver, but he's hoping just for 7 or 8 with Justin Fargas in there. In 45 carries since he sprained his toe in the 4th quarter of week 2, McFadden's longest run is 15 yards. 

Darren McFadden carried 10 times for 38 yards & 2 TDs at Denver. He snapped Oakland's franchise-record 205 straight plays without a TD on a 3rd and goal from the 1. "I went over and talked to coach and said we've got a flip play we can run," McFadden said. "I told him if you give me the flip, I'll promise I'll get in there. So he called it, and I felt I had no choice but to get in there." Justin Fargas carried 24 times for 107 yards as well. This might be the plan going forward, letting McFadden work change-of-pace and goal-line action, keeping too much stress off his toe. He still doesn't have a big fantasy role unless you're in a deep league.

Raiders RB Darren McFadden (toe) has practiced 2 days in a row. “Yesterday, a lot of the trainers were telling me I had a different pep about myself yesterday at practice,” McFadden said. “My whole demeanor changed being back out there.”  McFadden is probably on fantasy waiver wires. He's worth a pickup in deep leagues, but starting him is another story. He has to put both Justin Fargas and turf toe completely behind him.

Raiders RB Darren McFadden (toe) is listed as questionable after not practicing Friday. Oakland reporter Jerry McDonald writes: "[Tom] Cable said McFadden is a game time decision, but his decreasing amount of practice during the week and the way the rookie running back is walking suggest a third consecutive game on the inactive list."  McFadden changed his shoes Wednesday, citing his spikes as a reason for his slow-healing turf toe. Both his big toes are sore, but it's the right one that has lingered for weeks. With McFadden's health and the fact that Oakland gave him a $26 million signing bonus, it's very possible they could shut him down and look toward 2009.
