Updating a previous item, Browns RB Dion Lewis broke his left fibula in Thursday night's matchup with Detroit.  The injury appears likely to end his season.  That will open the team's #2 job back up to Montario Hardesty -- if he ever gets healthy -- Chris Ogbonnaya and Brandon Jackson.  If anything, that group should only inspire coaches to give Trent Richardson more touches.

Browns RB Dion Lewis left the field in Detroit on a cart Thursday night after suffering an apparent left ankle injury.  No word yet on the severity, but it's obviously bad news for a guy who has done nothing but impress his new team.  Lewis had risen to #2 on the depth chart behind Trent Richardson, helped by Montario Hardesty's various injuries.  We'll see how things sort out from here.

Browns backup RB Dion Lewis has been the "surprise at camp so far," according to ESPN Cleveland's Will Burge.  Burge notes that Lewis has "awed everyone with his speed, moves, and catching ability," adding that Lewis' game is "fast and full-go all the time."  Lewis is getting 2nd-team reps while RB Montario Hardesty sits with a bum hamstring.  Hardesty owns a career 3.5 yards-per-carry average in 2 unimpressive years with Cleveland, and the injury isn't helping his case.  Lewis didn't have much opportunity in Philly from 2011-12, but has a 4.8 YPC average on 36 career attempts.  Trent Richardson owners will want to keep an eye on this camp battle to determine the appropriate handcuff.

The Eagles have traded RB Dion Lewis to the Browns in exchange for LB Emmanuel Acho.  Lewis wasn't a fit in new HC Chip Kelly's offense.  In Cleveland, he'll vie for touches behind RB Trent Richardson.  Lewis is undersized at 5'8 and 195 pounds, but he's got some juice in his legs.  He's averaged 4.8 yards per carry in limited action over the past 2 years.  He could earn a change-of-pace role with the Browns, although Hardesty remains the favorite for the true backup job.  That means Lewis won't be worth considering in 2013 fantasy football drafts.

The Philadelphia Inquirer has learned that Eagles RB Dion Lewis is on the trade block.  He's no better than 3rd on Philly's depth chart and isn't in new HC Chip Kelly's plans.  Lewis has carried just 36 times across his first 2 NFL seasons.  He's averaged 4.8 yards per rush, though, and has also scored twice.  The former 5th-round pick racked up 2,680 yards and 30 TDs on a 5.3-yard average in 2 seasons at the University of Pittsburgh.  Lewis goes just 5'8 and 195 pounds, so he'll never be a workhorse at the NFL level.  But he could contribute as a change-of-pace option.  We'll see if the Eagles are able to find a trade partner.

According to Eagles insider Jeff McLane, RB Dion Lewis "has pretty much wrapped up" the team's #2 RB job.  Rookies Bryce Brown and Chris Polk are battling for the the 3rd RB spot.  If RB LeSean McCoy went down, Lewis would likely be looking at about 15 touches per game, making him a borderline fantasy starter.  We don't consider handcuffind McCoy a necessity, but Lewis is your man if you want to.

Felony charges against Eagles RB Dion Lewis were dropped on Monday.  Lewis was being charged with falsely reporting a fire at a hotel he was staying at, but there was no evidence that he actually pulled the fire alarm.  This is a non-story.  Lewis will head to camp looking to hold off RBs Bryce Brown and Chris Polk for the backup job.

Eagles RB Dion Lewis was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with a felony for falsely reporting a fire and a misdemeanor reckless endangerment.  Lewis was locked out of a hotel he was staying at, so he and his brother proceeded to bang on the glass doors and then pull the fire alarm.  Both men were intoxicated.  It sounds like nothing more than a high school-ish prank, so Lewis will likely escape this one without any jail time or league suspension.  It won't help his odds of locking down Philadelphia's backup RB job though.

Eagles insider Adam Caplan doesn't see a clear cut #2 RB on the roster.  Dion Lewis will enter training camp as the favorite for the gig, but he's unproven and undersized (5'7, 195 pounds).  "My sense is if [LeSean] McCoy couldn’t play in a given week, we could see a two-man backfield with Lewis and another back," Caplan writes.  That other back will be one of two rookies: Bryce Brown or Chris Polk.  Brown, a 7th-round pick, boasts a nice size-speed combo but struggles in pass protection.  Polk is better in that area but went undrafted because of numerous medical issues.  Philly is only expected to keep one of those guys.  And it sounds like that guy would split the workload with Lewis if McCoy went down.

Eagles RB LeSean McCoy (ankle) is inactive for today's game against the Redskins.  It's a bit surprising after he practiced on Thursday and Friday, but Philly has no reason to play Shady in a meaningless game.  RBs Ronnie Brown and Dion Lewis will split backfield duties today.  Brown is the better bet for early-down work, while Lewis will likely handle passing-down duties.

1:04pm EST 12/26/11

Eagles RB LeSean McCoy suffered a minor ankle injury in the 2nd half of Saturday's game against the Cowboys.  He limped to the locker room for x-rays, which came back negative.  Shady actually returned to the game, although he finished with a season-low 45 total yards.  HC Andy Reid didn't sound concerned about the injury afterwards, referring to it as a "tweak."  Philly has been eliminated from playoff contention, though, so McCoy may not play much -- if at all -- in the season finale.  We'll have to see what he does in practice this week.  RBs Ronnie Brown and Dion Lewis would figure to split backfield duties if Shady is held out.

According to NFL Network's Stacey Dales, Eagles LeSean McCoy (toe) will be at "limited capacity" against the Seahawks tonight.  He was reportedly moving around "very gingerly" in warmups.  With that news, Shady goes from a must-start to a risky RB2.  Ronnie Brown and Dion Lewis figure to see increased roles tonight.  We just updated our Week 13 RB Rankings.
