49ers RB Frank Gore (ankle) was limited again on Friday and is officially questionable for this weekend's game against the Eagles.  It's looking like he'll play but have his touches limited.  RB Kendall Hunter will pick up the slack.  Despite a favorable matchup, you're better off avoiding this situation in fantasy this week.  If Gore ends up inactive, though, Hunter would become an intriguing option.

49ers RB Frank Gore (ankle) was limited in practice again on Thursday.  He admitted earlier in the day that he's unsure about his status for Sunday's game against the Eagles.  We're expecting Gore to be active, but he'll likely split snaps with RB Kendall Hunter.  Check back on Friday for an update.

49ers beat writer Matt Barrows believes RB Frank Gore (ankle) will play against the Eagles on Sunday, but that his workload will be limited.  Gore split carries with RB Kendall Hunter after spraining his ankle last week.  If that's the case on Sunday, neither guy will be a strong fantasy bet.  Gore put in a limited practice on Wednesday, though, and could be ready for lead back duties if he continues to progress this week.  We should have a better idea of his status by Friday.

Contrary to a previous report, 49ers RB Frank Gore (ankle) was able to put in a limited practice on Wednesday.  It bodes well for his chances of playing against the Eagles this weekend.  Check back on Thursday for another update.

49ers RB Frank Gore (ankle) was held out of practice on Wednesday.  He was spotted limping around by beat writer Matt Barrows.  "We'll see," HC Jim Harbaugh said when asked if Gore would be able to play against the Eagles Sunday.  If he can't, rookie RB Kendall Hunter would draw the start.  Check back tomorrow for an update.

49ers HC Jim Harbaugh fully expects RB Frank Gore (ankle) to play in the team's Week 4 game against the Eagles.  "In my mind, Frank's good to go," Harbaugh said.  Gore wasn't as optimistic after yesterday's win over the Bengals, but he must have reported to the facility in better shape today.  We'll continue to update his status throughout this week, but owners can tentatively expect Gore to start this weekend.  Now whether or not the struggling back should be in your starting lineup is another question...

49ers RB Frank Gore played through a sprained ankle Sunday.  But afterwards, he wouldn't guarantee that he'll be available for Week 4. "I can't tell until tomorrow," Gore said.  "See how I'm feeling."  We'll update his status when we hear more, but backup RB Kendall Hunter is worth an add in all formats.

49ers Frank Gore suffered an ankle injury in Sunday's game against the Bengals.  He never left the game but did have his snaps limited in the 2nd half.  He should be fine for Week 4, but we'll track his status over the next week.  Rookie RB Kendall Hunter is next in line if Gore were to miss time.

The 49ers and RB Frank Gore have agreed on a 3-year, $21 million contract extension.  He'll get $13.5 million guaranteed.  This deal tacks on to the 1 year Gore still had left, so he's now signed in San Fran through 2014.  Both sides are happy, and fantasy owners can now draft Gore without worrying about contract squabbles.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, RB Frank Gore is "frustrated" with the pace of his contract negotiations with the 49ers.  Remember that Gore staged a 4-day holdout back in July.  We'll continue to monitor this situation, but it's unlikely to impact his on-field performance.

49ers HC Jim Harbaugh says RB Frank Gore will report to training camp on Monday, ending his mini 4-day holdout. Phew. A prolonged holdout from Gore would’ve really put his 2011 fantasy stock on thin ice, as the injury prone 28-year-old needs to get his body in tip-top shape. The fact the new CBA states that players can be fined $30,000 per day for holding out was likely a major factor in his decision to report. Now in camp, Gore can be selected in the 2nd round of fantasy drafts.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports 49ers RB Frank Gore will hold out when San Francisco reports to training camp on Thursday. Gore is slated to make a pedestrian $2.9 million in the final year of his deal this season. That’s not to say he deserves a big payday, though. Gore hasn’t played a full season since 2006, and missed a career-high 5 games due to injury last season. We’ll be keeping a close eye on this situation.

49ers RB Frank Gore says that HC Jim Harbaugh plans to get him heavily-involved in the passing game this season.  "He's just going to get me catching the ball more and getting me a lot of space," Gore said. "He'll be doing a lot of different things instead of the eight or nine men in the box. He's just trying to get the box loosened up for me."  Gore has averaged 51 catches per year over his past 5 seasons, and should at least hit that mark in 2011.  We just bumped up his projections a bit.

According to his agent, 49ers RB Frank Gore is 100% recovered from the fractured hip that ended his 2010 season.  "I watched Frank Gore work out and he is 100% healthy and fully recovered from his hip injury," Drew Rosenhaus tweeted.  "He's never looked better!"  Take this with a grain of salt since it's coming from an agent, but we do know that Gore didn't need surgery and that the injury isn't expected to be a long-term concern.  He should be good to go for the start of training camp.

49ers GM Trent Baalke insinuated that the team will use QB Colin Kaepernick as a runner even if he doesn't win the starting job in training camp this summer. "Who's to say we're not going to have him in 'The Pistol,'" Baalke said.  "Coming out of the Pistol offense, it's also going to be a little bit of an advantage for us to have some quarterback-driven runs in our offense that teams are going to have to prepare for."  Sounds a bit like how the Broncos used Tim Tebow early last year.  It won't be enough to give Kaepernick any real fantasy value, but it could put a dent in RB Frank Gore's upside if Kaepernick steals too many carries.

49ers new HC Jim Harbaugh confirmed that RB Frank Gore will continue to be the center piece of the team's offense in 2011.  "Having studied our team and our own personnel and every back across the league, I think Frank Gore is one of the best in the league and one of the most complete backs," Harbaugh said.  "It won't be the type of thing where we have Frank Gore come off the field too much."  Still just 27 years old, Gore will be plenty worthy of a 1st-round pick in 2011 fantasy drafts.

According to 49ers beat writer Matt Barrows, RB Frank Gore is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a broken hip. Gore injured the hip back on November 29th, but has already been running for two weeks. As expected, the 27-year-old will be fine to resume his bell-cow role in San Fran next season.

The 49ers have agreed to a 5-year, $25 million deal with HC Jim Harbaugh.  Despite a spotty track record of college coaches making the leap to the NFL, Harbaugh was the hottest coaching candidate this offseason.  He's known as an offensive mind, so the hiring should be good news for RB Frank Gore, WR Michael Crabtree, and TE Vernon Davis.

4:51pm EST 11/30/10

The 49ers have officially placed RB Frank Gore (hip) on IR, ending his 2010 season.  Although he's still underegoing additional tests, Gore is expected to be ready for 2011 minicamps.

The 49ers have confirmed that RB Frank Gore fractured his hip in Monday night's game against the Cardinals.  He hasn't been placed on IR yet, but his 2010 season is over.  RB Brian Westbrook will take over the starting job, but RB Anthony Dixon should also see plenty of work too.  San Fran would be wise to limit Westy to about 15 touches per game if they want him to make it through the rest of the season.
