The Kansas City Chiefs selected Cincinnati WR Cyrus Allen in Round 5 of the 2026 NFL Draft. Allen spent his first two college seasons at Louisiana Tech, finshing third on the team with 500 receiving yards as a freshman and second with 778 as a sophomore. Allen transferred to Texas A&M for his junior campaign but suffered a season-ending arm injury in November. Allen wrapped up his college career at Cincinnati, where he led the Bearcats in all major receiving categories. Allen’s 13 TDs were tied for third most in the FBS. He also posted strong advanced metrics: a 32.8% dominator rating and 2.42 yards per route. Both marks ranked top-16 among 52 of the top WRs in this year’s class. Allen is undersized at 5’11, 183 pounds with middling athleticism (4.49-second 40 time, 36-inch vertical). But he’s a twitchy route runner with plus ball skills. His most likely path to NFL playing time is in the slot, where he ran 92% of his routes last year.

Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy (illness) is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game vs. the Raiders. His absence leaves JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquise Brown as Kansas City’s likely top two WRs. We’ll see if WR Jalen Royals gets involved. But you should continue to ignore this group in Week 18 fantasy lineups.

The Chiefs placed WR Rashee Rice on IR with his concussion. He'll miss the final two games of the season. It's probably for the best for fantasy managers: Rice would have been tough to trust with QB Chris Oladokun. WR Tyquan Thornton (concussion) is also landing on IR, leaving Xavier Worthy, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Marquise Brown as Kansas City's likely top three WRs for the final two weeks. We'll see if rookie WR Jalen Royals gets involved, but this is a WR corps to avoid in all fantasy formats.

Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game vs. the Giants. He was limited in practice all week. HC Andy Reid said Friday that they’ll “see how it goes” regarding Worthy’s availability for this one. The late kickoff could put Worthy owners in a tricky spot. We’ll look for further updates on his status. WR Jalen Royals (knee) is also listed as questionable but put in full practices on Thursday and Friday. He should be ready to make his NFL debut on Sunday night.

He also got in limited practices last Thursday and Friday, and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said earlier this week that Worthy is on track to return for Sunday night's game vs. the Giants. Chiefs WR Marquise Brown (ankle) was a full participant in practice all week and isn't listed on the final injury report for Friday night's opener vs. the Chargers. Brown missed about three weeks of training camp but has been back on the field since mid-August. He should be ready to play a significant Week 1 role for a Chiefs WR corps that will be without WRs Rashee Rice (suspension) and Jalen Royals (knee).

Chiefs HC Andy Reid believes it will be a challenge for rookie WR Jalen Royals to play Week 1, according to Jesse Newell of The Athletic.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Chiefs WR Rashee Rice is accepting a six-game suspension and will serve it at the start of this season.

Chiefs’ WR Marquise Brown returned to practice on Sunday and was participating again on Monday, according to Chiefs' senior team reporter Matt McMullen.

The NFL has yet to hand down any suspension for Chiefs WR Rashee Rice, but the team obviously needs to prepare for that possibility. SI.com's Albert Breer says the team is "expecting a suspension of Rice in the neighborhood of four to six games, and are ready for it." That time span lines up with other rumored expectations. Frankly, though, it seems odd that we still don't have anything official from the league, given that the initial infraction(s?) came early in the offseason before the 2024 campaign.

Chiefs WR Marquise Brown sustained an ankle injury in Tuesday's practice, HC Andy Reid said. No word yet on the severity or a timeline for Brown's return.

Update: Brown "avoided anything serious and is expected to be back on the field as early as tomorrow," according to insider Jordan Schultz.

Chiefs WR Jalen Royals is off to a strong start in training camp. He's already mixing in with the first-team offense and drew praise from HC Andy Reid for his football IQ. The rookie has a chance to earn a role this season, especially during WR Rashee Rice's presumed suspension.

The Chiefs selected Utah State WR Jalen Royals with the 133rd pick of Round Four in the 2025 NFL Draft. A two-year performer at Utah State, Royals averaged 6.3 catches, 95.7 yards, and 1.05 TDs per game across 20 appearances. This past fall, Royals totaled 55-834-6 in only seven games. His season was cut short by a foot injury. Royals helped push up his draft stock with an excellent performance at the Senior Bowl. He excelled in creating separation and making difficult catches. At nearly 6’0, 200 pounds, Royals’ Senior Bowl lines up with his film. He had a 9.00 Relative Athletic Score (RAS) based on his predraft testing. He also ranked 32nd among Combine WRs in 2024 Target Share at 17.9%, and 17th among those WRs in PFF Receiving Grade with an 80.6. He is currently 22 years old with a Breakout Age of 20.5. It’s easy to observe him as a dangerous run-after-catch threat.
