Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (ribs) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday.  He looks iffy for this weekend's game against the Ravens and might be limited even if he plays.  That should mean a big workload for RB Charcandrick West.  We just bumped West up the Week 15 RB Rankings.

Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (ribs) did not practice on Wednesday.  He doesn't have any structural damage to the ribs, so this will come down to pain tolerance.  If he doesn't play against the Ravens this weekend, Charcandrick West should flirt with 20 touches.

X-rays on Chiefs RB Spencer Ware's ribs came back negative, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.  "But he's bruised, swollen & in pain," Rapoport adds.  Ware was able to re-enter last week's game, so we're expecting him to be available for this Sunday's game against the Ravens.  If not, RB Charcandrick West would be a much stronger fantasy play.  We'll keep an eye on Ware this week.

Chiefs RB Spencer Ware injured his ribs in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game and is officially questionable to return.  Charcandrick West will dominate backfield work for however long Ware is out.

The forecast for this afternoon's Chargers-Chiefs game calls for an 85% chance of rain with 10-14 mph winds.  This set up as a run-heavy, low-scoring game to begin with, and the weather will only add to that.  With WRs Stevie Johnson and Dontrelle Inman out and QB Philip Rivers playing with the flu, San Diego's passing game figures to struggle.  That'll only make it easier for the Chiefs to ride their running game.

Chiefs OC Doug Pederson said Thursday that the team will deploy a RB-by-committee going forward.  RB Spencer Ware has earned a regular role by averaging 7 yards per carry over the past 2 weeks.  At 5'10 and 229 pounds, he gives Kansas City a between-the-tackles pounder.  RB Charcandrick West is a 5'10, 205-pounder more in the mold of Jamaal Charles.  West will stay plenty involved on the ground and handle the majority of the pass-catching work.  He remains the better bet for touches and the superior fantasy play, but Ware's presence makes West more of a low-end RB2.

Chiefs RB Charcandrick West (hamstring) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.  He's set to return for this weekend's game against the Raiders.  RB Spencer Ware has been impressive in West's absence, though, rushing 30 times for 210 yards (7 YPC) and 3 scores.  We'd bet on the more versatile West leading the backfield in touches this week, but the bigger Ware will remain involved, especially near the goal line.

Update: ESPN's Adam Schefter hears that West will not play.  We'll know for sure by noon.

HC Andy Reid said Friday afternoon that West is “getting better.” We’ll find out his official status by noon ET on Sunday. If active, West will be a risk/reward RB2 with that hamstring issue. If not, Spencer Ware will be in the RB2 mix.

Chiefs OC Doug Pederson says RB Spencer Ware will maintain a backfield role Sunday against the Bills even if RB Charcandrick West (hamstring) is ready to play. “I think our mentality is still the running back by committee,’’ Pederson told ESPN.com, specifically praising Ware's balance, vision and power. That could make him a nice complement to the smaller, speedier West, whose touches the Chiefs might want to limit coming off a hamstring injury. The situation adds risk to West as a fantasy option for Week 12, but he's still the 1st Chiefs back we'd use if he's active. Ware will be tough to trust as a fantasy starter if West is in the lineup but should at least still be an option for deeper leagues or those in rough shape at RB.
