NFL insider Adam Caplan hears that Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (groin) would have been listed as doubtful or out if today's game against the Lions wasn't a must-win.  V-Jax will reportedly  test the groin in pregame warmups, but it doesn't sound like he has a great chance of playing.  Even if he ends up active, Jackson will be a risky fantasy option.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (groin) missed his 3rd-straight practice on Friday.  Now there's cause for concern.  HC Norv Turner remains "hopeful" that V-Jax will play against the Lions, but it'll be a game-time decision.  And the 4:05 pm ET start time puts owners in a tough spot.  If you were planning to roll with Jackson, we'd add either WR Malcom Floyd or WR Vincent Brown as insurance.  Floyd will have WR2 upside if V-Jax sits, while Brown would move into the starting lineup and be a viable WR3.  We'll have Jackson's official status around 3 pm tomorrow.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (groin) was held out of practice again on Thursday.  There's still been no indication that he's in any danger of missing this weekend's game against the Lions though.  V-Jax comes with a bit more risk than usual, but he remains a must-start against a reeling secondary as long as he's active.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson was held out of Wednesday's practice with a groin injury.  HC Norv Turner confirmed that V-Jax is a bit sore but is fully expected to play against the Lions on Saturday.  Look for him to get back on the practice field tomorrow.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday.  We haven't heard of any sort of setback, but V-Jax is still clearly at less than 100%.  It helps explain his pathetic production over the past 3 weeks.  Jackson is expected to play against the Packers on Sunday -- and he'd be tough to bench -- but keep expectations in check

11:46am EDT 10/23/11

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (hamstring) is active for today’s tilt with the Jets. V Jax will see plenty of CB Darrelle Revis, but there’s no way he’s riding your bench.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (hamstring) put in another full practice on Friday and is listed as probable for this weekend's game against the Jets.  His matchup with CB Darrelle Revis is a bigger concern than the hamstring.  We'd start V-Jax this week, but keep expectations in check.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (hamstring) put in a full practice on Thursday.  He's as close to 100% as he's been since the season-opener.  Sunday's matchup against Jets CB Darrelle Revis will be must-see TV.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (hamstring) put in a limited practice on Wednesday.  He may not be at 100%, but he's clearly getting closer.  V-Jax didn't practice at all the past few Wednesdays.  He's fully expected to play against the Jets this weekend.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (hamstring) was held out of practice on Monday.  The team is likely just giving V-Jax another couple days of rest before they begin their game-day preparations on Wednesday.  Beat writer Kevin Acee confirms that HC Norv Turner "seemed optimistic" that Jackson would be able to practice then.  Check back Wednesday for an update.

Chargers HC Norv Turner confirmed that RB Ryan Mathews (calf, wrist) is expected to be ready to go after the team's Week 6 bye.  RB Mike Tolbert (concussion) and WR Vincent Jackson (abdomen, hamstring) are also expected to be fine.  San Diego's off week is coming at the perfect time.

3:01pm EDT 10/9/11

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (abdomen, hamstring) is active for today's game against the Broncos.  He probably won't play a full slate of snaps but is still a high-upside fantasy play.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (abdomen, hamstring) returned to practice Friday, as expected, and is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Broncos.  He'll play, but the question is just how much.  HC Norv Turner says he expects V-Jax to be on the field for at least the 22 snaps he played last weekend.  That still makes Jackson a risky fantasy play, but his massive upside makes him tough to bench.  Remember that he posted 108 yards and a score last week despite the limited playing time.  We have V-Jax ranked 9th in our Week 5 WR rankings.

The Chargers have listed WR Vincent Jackson as having a hamstring injury.  They'd previously only referred to it as a "leg muscle strain."  Beat writer Kevin Acee says "there is concern how much Jackson can go" against the Broncos this weekend.  Remember that V-Jax played sparingly after the 1st quarter last Sunday.  Let's see if he's able to practice at all this week, but he's shaping up as a high-risk, high-reward fantasy option.

Chargers HC Norv Turner sounded confident on Monday that WR Vincent Jackson would be fine for Week 5.  V-Jax suffered a minor leg injury on Sunday that the team believes was a result of over-compensating for the abdomen injury that's bothered him for the past couple weeks.  Turner said that Jackson is in about the same this Monday as he was last.  Remember that V-Jax missed Wednesday and Thursday's practices this past week before returning to a full workout on Friday and playing on Sunday.  Expect a similar regimen this week.

Chargers HC Norv Turner revealed that WR Vincent Jackson suffered a strained leg muscle during Sunday's game against the Dolphins.  "He couldn't turn it completely loose," Turner said. "It will be a day-to-day thing."  V-Jax was able to get back on the field in the 2nd half, so it's obviously not a serious issue.  We'll monitor his status throughout the upcoming week, but Jackson should be fine for next Sunday's game against the Broncos.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson suffered an undisclosed injury in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game against the Dolphins.  He's been standing on the sidelines in full uniform ever since.  It's unclear if he'll return to the game.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (abdomen) and WR Malcom Floyd (groin) are both active for today's game against the Dolphins.  V-Jax is a full-go, but Floyd may have his snaps limited again.

After missing practice on both Wednesday and Thursday, Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (abdomen) put in a full practice on Friday.  He's ready for Sunday's game against the Dolphins and needs to be in starting lineups.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (abdomen) was held out of practice for the 2nd-straight day on Thursday.  He was held out last Thursday too and ended up catching 5 balls for 63 yards against the Chiefs.  He's not believed to be in any danger of missing this Sunday's game against the Dolphins, but check back on Friday to make sure.
