After holding out for the majority of last season, Chargers WR Vincent Jackson will sign his franchise tender and report to training camp on time.  He's still looking for a long-term deal but is resigned to playing out the 2011 season on the 1-year, $11.3 million contract.  It means that we'll be getting an extremely motivated V-Jax this year.  Good news for his fantasy outlook.

The Chargers "will be more willing to trade Vincent Jackson now than they were in 2010," according to beat writer Kevin Acee.  "I'm not saying they will trade him, but that it could happen for similar terms as they turned down last year."  The Chargers were reportedly offered a 2nd-round pick for V-Jax last September, and a similar proposal could get a deal done this time around.  But we're betting that Jackson ends up playing out his 1-year, franchise-tag deal in San Diego before moving on in 2012.  This will definitely be a situation to monitor when the lockout is lifted though.

The Chargers, as expected, have slapped WR Vincent Jackson with the franchise tag.  It's expected to pay him close to $12 million for the 2011 season.  It's worth noting that San Diego used the non-exclusive tag here.  It means that Jackson can speak to other teams about a contract, but the Chargers would have the right to match any offer.  And if they opted not to match, they'd be compensated with two 1st-round draft picks.  In other words, V-Jax will be a Charger in 2011.  But GM A.J. Smith seems reluctant to give him a long-term contract, so this is likely Jackson's last year in San Diego.

According to Chargers beat writer Kevin Acee, WR Vincent Jackson is fully expecting to be slapped with the franchise tag sometime over the next couple weeks.  And V-Jax would reportedly be more than happy to play in San Diego for the roughly $10 million he'd be paid.  Acee also confirms that GM A.J. Smith has been "leaning towards" franchising Jackson and then letting him walk in 2012.  Staying in San Diego would be the best news for V-Jax's 2011 fantasy outlook.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (calf) is active and will start against the Chiefs today.  Consider him a high-risk, high-reward WR3.

After returning to a limited workout Thursday, Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (calf) put in a full practice on Friday.  He's listed as questionable, but barring a setback, it looks like he'll play against the Chiefs on Sunday.  But after he left his last game without a catch, V-Jax is too risky to use this week.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (calf) returned to a limited practice on Thursday.  He wasn't expected to play against the Chiefs on Sunday, but you have to believe he has a chance now.  Check back on Friday for another update.

The San Diego Union-Tribune confirms that Chargers WR Vincent Jackson (calf) is not expected to be ready for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.  He didn't practice on Wednesday and will likely end up being listed as doubtful on the injury report.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson is expected to miss at least 2 weeks with the strained calf he suffered early in Sunday night's game against the Colts.  That puts his earliest return date at Week 15.  And even then, he'll be an extremely risky fantasy play.  V-Jax is only worth hanging on to in the deepest of leagues.  His contract-year season was a complete wash.

Chargers beat writer Kevin Acee reports that WR Vincent Jackson is dealing with injuries to both of his calves.  V-Jax tweaked his left calf during Friday's practice, and then left Sunday night's game against the Colts with a right calf injury, presumably from over-compensating for the first one.  The team hasn't announced how long Jackson is expected to be out.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson left in the 1st quarter of Sunday night's game against the Colts with a calf injury and will not return.  It was his first game back after a lengthy holdout.  But it's tough to blame that for the injury considering V-Jax has been practicing for 3 weeks.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson will make his 2010 season debut this Sunday night against the Colts.  And based on his work in practice, it sounds like he's ready to make an immediate impact.  Teammaters have reportedly been "marveling" at how dominant V-Jax has been on the practice field.  “You don’t see him for so long, you forget why he’s a Pro Bowler,” TE Antonio Gates said. “He’s at the head of the class and everyone lines up behind him.”  We wouldn't hesitate to use Jackson as a high-upside WR3 this weekend.

As expected, Chargers WR Vincent Jackson has signed his 1-year contract tender and reported to the team.  He'lll now start serving a 3-game suspension after being placed on the Roster Exempt List.  San Diego has a Week 10 bye, so V-Jax will make his 2010 debut against the Colts in Week 12.  "I’m happy Vincent is here," GM A.J. Smith said.  "I have no doubt he will go to work, work hard and quickly get into game-shape.  Once he starts playing in games, I don’t think it will take him long for him to be a contributor."  Jackson should be rostered as a potential fantasy playoff factor.

Chargers GM A.J. Smith confirmed that he expects WR Vincent Jackson to make an impact down the stretch.  "I believe he will do well," Smith said. "He always has been a worker, stays in shape, knows our offense. After a little game-speed adjustment, I would expect him to be a major contributor."  V-Jax should be owned in all leagues.  He'll be a valuable asset in the fantasy playoffs.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson will reportedly sign his tender and report to the team next Friday.  That's just one day before the October 30th deadline.  V-Jax will begin serving his 3-game suspension as a result of being placed on the Roster Exempt List.  He'll be eligible to play when the team travels to take on the Colts in Week 12.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Chargers WR Vincent Jackson will report to the team by October 31.  He'll then serve his 3 game suspension as a result of being placed on the Roster Exempt List.  V-Jax will be eligible to play in Week 12, allowing him to accrue 6 games of service and become an unrestricted free-agent in 2011.  Jackson is worth a grab-and-stash in all fantasy leagues.  He'll be a major factor in the fantasy playoffs.

NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora believes Chargers WR Vincent Jackson will report to the team by Week 8. V-Jax needs to accrue 6 games on the active roster this season in order to be eligible for unrestricted free-agency next year. "If he sits out the entire season, there is still a very, very strong chance he ends up right back where he is – a restricted free agent," a CBA expert said. Because Jackson was placed on the Roster Exempt List, he’s still looking at a 3-game suspension. Reporting by Week 8 would make him eligible by Week 12, which would get him his 6 games. Bottom line: V-Jax could still be a fantasy factor down the stretch. Of course, there’s no guarantee that San Diego would actually play him.

The deadline for Chargers WR Vincent Jackson to be traded and have his suspension reduced to 4 games has come and gone.  The Vikings reportedly went hard after him, but no deal was reached.  Jackson's agent wasn't too happy with how it went down.  "Archie Manning had it right," Jonathan Feinsod said. "They call (Chargers GM A.J. Smith) 'The Lord of No Rings' for a reason."  Ouch!  Jackson's suspension now lasts through Week 6, and his chances of playing this season take a big hit.

The deadline for Chargers WR Vincent Jackson to be traded and only be suspended 4 games is today at 4 pm ET.  The Vikings have reportedly worked out a 1-year, $6 million deal with V-Jax but haven't agreed to a trade with San Diego.  Minnesota has offered a 2nd-round pick and a conditional pick for Jackson, but the Chargers want a 2nd and a 3rd.  If a deal can't be agreed to by 4 pm, Jackson's suspension will be increased to 6 games.

Chargers WR Vincent Jackson had his suspension reduced to 4 games today.  He was originally suspended for 6 games after the Chargers placed him on the Roster Exempt List.  It's important to note that his suspension only gets reduced if he's traded.  It's another sign that he's not in San Diego's plans.  However, the ruling does make it much more likely that V-Jax will be traded.  Minnesota, Seattle, and St. Louis sound like the most likely landing spots.  Hang on to Jackson if you drafted him.
