Carolina Panthers Injury Updates

The Panthers have ruled LB Shaq Thompson out for Sunday's game against the Colts with an ankle injury. Jermaine Carter -- a 5th-round pick from 2018 -- will start in Thompson's place. We'd look elsewhere for a fantasy replacement, though.

Panthers S Eric Reid and DE Mario Addison (chest) are active for today's game against the Seahawks. He was a late addition to the injury report because of an illness but looks good to go for IDP lineups. Addison should start in most cases as well.

Panthers S Eric Reid is now questionable for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks because of an illness. We’ll obviously update his status Sunday morning. An active Reid will be worth playing in your IDP lineup, though, barring word that they’ll limit his playing time. Reid has on multiple occasions played through injuries that rendered him questionable and limited him to minimal or no practice. Reid has been one of the top-scoring DBs on the year and a consistent producer

Panthers EDGE Mario Addison missed practice Wednesday and Thursday with a chest injury. We'll see about his Friday participation and game status. Brian Burns would likely see starter-level playing time if Addison can't play in the upside matchup with the Seahawks.

Panthers DE Mario Addison popped up on the injury report Friday as a limited practice participant with a groin injury. He's questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons. We haven't seen anything else on the injury yet, so we'll look for more on Addison's outlook through the weekend.

The Panthers will get top CB James Bradberry (groin) back for Sunday's game against the Falcons. He returned to full practices Thursday and Friday, and Carolina left him off the final injury report. Bradberry missed last week. Donte Jackson (hip) is questionable for the game. He missed practice Wednesday and Thursday before a limited Friday. Third corner Ross Cockrell is out with a quad injury.

Panthers CB James Bradberry is inactive for today's game against the Packers with a groin injury. That improves the matchup for Green Bay WR Davante Adams. DT Vernon Butler (back) is active after arriving questionable. Butler's not much of an IDP option, though.

Panthers edge Brian Burns had "minor surgery" on his right wrist during the team's bye, according to Joe Person of The Athletic. Burns put in a full practice Friday, though, and didn't even appear on the team's final injury report. So he looks ready for normal playing time against the 49ers. Burns had been dealing with the wrist issue since Week 4, so he might even head into this Sunday better off than he was for the past 2 contests. We'll see whether it means anything for his playing time or production. Burns sits in high-DL3 range in our Week 8 rankings.

The Panthers have deemed LB Shaq Thompson (ankle), S Eric Reid (ankle) and CB Donte Jackson (groin) questionable for Sunday morning's game in London. Thompson and Reid both put in limited practices the past 2 days after beginning the week on the sideline. Jackson practiced the first 2 days but then was limited Friday. He missed the past 2 games with the groin injury and shouldn't be in IDP lineups. We'll check on the other 2 Sunday morning, when inactives for that game arrive at 8 a.m. ET.

The Panthers will go without CB Donte Jackson for the 2nd straight week this Sunday. He's out with a groin injury. DL Gerald McCoy, Edge Brian Burns and S Eric Reid are questionable. Reid (ankle) put in only a limited Friday practice and looks like a poor IDP bet even if he's active for the game. McCoy (knee) did not practice Thursday or Friday after practicing in full on Wednesday. Burns (wrist) didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday but then put in a full workout Friday. He'll be the guy to watch Sunday morning, with an upside sack matchup against the Jaguars.

The Panthers will face the Texans today without CB Donte Jackson (groin) and DT Kawann Short (shoulder). Both are inactive after entering the day questionable. Their absences ding a defense already facing 1 of the league's more high-powered offenses. DE Bruce Irvin will play for the first time this season. He also entered questionable with a hamstring injury. We'll see how his return affects the playing time of rookie Brian Burns. The rookie should be your IDP play for Week 4, though, in an upside spot.

Panthers DT Kawann Short is inactive for today's game against the Falcons because of a calf injury. That takes Carolina's best D-lineman out of the lineup, improving the matchup for Falcons RB Tevin Coleman. The 1st meeting found Coleman delivering 1 of his two 100-yard rushing lines so far this year.
