The Giants on Friday traded OLB Olivier Vernon to the Browns for G Kevin Zeitler. That news looks biggest for IDP owners, who could afford to pay Vernon no attention as a LB battling an ankle injury. With Cleveland, Vernon should return to primarily playing 4-3 DE opposite Myles Garrett. That immediately increases his fantasy value and puts him in a potentially nice situation. Vernon figures to jump back into our top 20 D-linemen for 2019.
The Browns announced Wednesday that they've released LB Jamie Collins. The move provides $9.25 million in cap space ahead of free agency. Collins arrived via trade midway through the 2016 season and then signed a 4-year extension the following January. He made it through just 2 years of that contract. Collins rebounded from losing 10 games to injury in 2017 and played every contest last season. He finished in high-LB3 territory for fantasy purposes. Collins should garner at least 1 more starting opportunity. He'll turn 30 in mid-October.
Browns S Damarious Randall (hamstring) is active for today’s game against the Texans. He popped up on the injury report after a limited Friday practice, but HC Gregg Williams indicated the move was more precautionary than reason for worry. Play Randall as you normally would in IDP lineups.
Browns S Damarious Randall is questionable for Sunday's game at Houston after a hamstring issue limited his practice Friday. Randall didn't appear on the injury report the previous 2 days, so it seems the injury arose Friday. HC Gregg Williams said he's not particularly worried and indicated the limitation was precautionary. We'll check Randall's status Sunday morning.
Browns MLB Joe Schobert returned to a limited practice Wednesday for the 1st time since he suffered the hamstring injury back in Week 6. Schobert then missed the past 3 games. We'll see if he's ready to play Sunday against the Falcons. If he is, Schobert and Jamie Collins will be the Cleveland LBs to use. Browns S Damarious Randall also put in a limited practice Wednesday after missing the loss to the Chiefs with a groin injury. Randall has dealt with multiple injuries throughout the season but practiced just once over the past 2 weeks (Friday of Week 8). Randall's Wednesday participation seems to put him on track to play against the Falcons, which should also put him in IDP lineups.
The Browns have placed LB Christian Kirksey on IR because of the hamstring injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. That ends his season and could leave the Browns without 2 of their starting LBs for the Week 10 clash with Atlanta. MLB Joe Schobert has missed the past 3 games with his own hamstring injury. We'll see if he can make it back to the field this week, but he has yet to even practice since suffering the injury. Jamie Collins should be a safe bet for full playing time the rest of the way. Kirksey started at Schobert's middle spot against K.C., with rookie Genard Avery on the weak side. Avery looks like a good bet for more than 50% playing time the rest of the way now and could stick in the 60-75% range -- especially if Schobert remains out. Tanner Vallejo replaced Kirksey after last Sunday's injury and would likely enter the Week 10 lineup if Schobert sits again. Avery's worth a pickup in many IDP leagues this week, bringing pass-rushing upside to go with his recent playing-time upswing.
Browns LB Christian Kirksey left Sunday's loss to the Chiefs with a hamstring injury and did not return. That's a new injury for a guy who missed 2 games earlier this season while dealing with shoulder and ankle issues. Cleveland has also been without MLB Joe Schobert since Week 6. We'll see about the status of Kirksey and Schobert for Sunday's matchup with the Falcons. A Week 11 bye waits on the other side.
Browns CB Denzel Ward left Sunday’s game against he Chiefs early with a hip injury and has been ruled out. We’ll see about his status for a Week 10 meeting with Atlanta. A Week 11 bye could factor into the decision
Browns S Damarious Randall is inactive for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported he would be a "healthy scratch," but Randall missed practice all week with a groin injury. We'll see about his status for a Week 10 home date with the Falcons. Randall has been enjoying a solid season in both real-life and fantasy terms.
Browns S Damarious Randall is questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers, as he deals with ankle and groin issues. ESPN's Pat McManamon reports that the team expects Randall to play, however. Randall has played through several other "questionable" tags, but those were for a heel injury that didn't show up on last week's injury report. We'll confirm his status Sunday morning.
Browns HC Hue Jackson said Monday that MLB Joe Schobert will be "down for a little while" with the hamstring injury that knocked him out of Sunday's loss to the Chargers, according to the team website. James Burgess replaced Schobert in that game but then left with his own hamstring injury and could also miss further time. Jackson said he and his staff would have to discuss the replacement plan behind Schobert and Burgess. OLB Jamie Collins reached a 90% snap share for just the 3rd time in 6 games against the Chargers and becomes more of an IDP starting option with the injuries in the middle.
Browns MLB Joe Schobert left Sunday's game against the Chargers early with a hamstring injury and we'll not return. We'll see about his status heading into a Week 7 meeting with the Buccaneers.
Browns S Damarious Randall is questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens. He played through a questionable tag on the heel injury at Oakland in Week 4. We'll check on his status Sunday morning.
Browns DE Emmanuel Ogbah (ankle) and LB Christian Kirksey (shoulder, ankle) each returned to a limited practice Wednesday. Neither starter has played since getting hurt back in Week 1, and neither put in a single practice last week. We'll keep an eye on their statuses heading into the weekend to see if either player is ready for a full return to game action. Both will return to the weekly IDP radar whenever they are ready. S Damarious Randall, meanwhile, missed Wednesday's practice with a heel injury.
Browns LB Christian Kirksey is expected to miss his 2nd straight game. He's doubtful for Thursday night's matchup with the Jets because of shoulder and ankle injuries. James Burgess started in Kirksey's place in Week 2 and played 62% of the snaps, which isn't a trustworthy level for IDP usage. Jamie Collins, however, stayed on the field for every snap in Kirksey's absence after playing just 61% of the snaps in Week 1. He's usable in moderately deep IDP leagues with Kirksey out. Cleveland will also miss DE Emmanuel Ogbah again. He's out for the 2nd straight game with an ankle injury.
The Browns have rule LB Christian Kirksey out for Sunday's game in New Orleans. Kirksey's dealing with shoulder and ankle injuries but managed limited practices all week. We'll see about his status heading into Week 3. Cleveland could use James Burgess or Tanner Vallejo in his place. Vallejo is listed as Kirksey's backup, but Burgess has filled in at multiple LB spots for injured starters in the past. Neither will be worth much of a look in IDP leagues. Kirksey's worth holding in redraft leagues of moderate depth.
Browns LB Christian Kirksey put in limited practices Wednesday and Thursday. The team listed him with both shoulder and ankle injuries. That could explain a somewhat limited snap count (73%) against the Steelers in Week 1. We'll see about Kirksey's status when the Friday game reports come out.
Browns DE Emmanuel Ogbah missed practice Wednesday with an ankle injury. Ogbah was in a walking boot Monday, following the tie vs. Pittsburgh, and HC Hue Jackson indicated he might be out a while. On Wednesday, however, Jackson told Cleveland.com, "not going to rule him out" for Sunday's game at New Orleans. We'll see how Ogbah progresses. Don't plan to have him in IDP lineups this week, though.
