Chiefs WR Marquise Brown suffered a sternoclavicular joint dislocation in his left shoulder in Saturday's preseason game, HC Andy Reid said afterward. "He'll miss some time," Reid said, adding that this is similar to the injury WR Tyreek Hill suffered in 2019. Hill missed four games with that injury.

The Jets traded WR Mecole Hardman to the Chiefs in exchange for a swap of late-round picks in 2025, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Hardman signed a one-year, $4 million deal with the Jets in free agency this offseason -- and wound up catching one pass for the team. Now he heads back to the team he spent his first four NFL seasons with. Hardman was largely disappointing with the Chiefs but did average 4.7 targets, 3.4 catches, and 40 yards per game across the 2021 and 2022 campaigns. Kansas City's 2023 WR corps has been completely underwhelming and just lost Justin Watson to an elbow injury. Expect to see Hardman step into a significant role rather quickly, although he's still unlikely to be an asset to fantasy football teams. He's only worth grabbing in very deep leagues.

Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman underwent groin surgery on February 21, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. Hardman suffered this injury in Week 9 in early November, finally returned for the AFC Championship in late January but played just 15 snaps and then missed the Super Bowl. Assuming this is a standard sports-hernia type surgery, Hardman should be ready in plenty of time for training camp. He's set to hit free agency in March for the first time.

"I doubt he’ll make the Super Bowl… He was not going to be denied the other day [in the AFC Championship Game], and that’s a tribute to the kid. He’s a tough, tough kid.” Hardman is scheduled to hit free agency in March.

Hardman seemingly tweaked the pelvis injury that had him sidelined since Week 9. The Chiefs get a much-needed week off before squaring off with the Eagles in the Super Bowl. We'll keep a close eye on these WRs when Kansas City officially gets back to work next week.

The lack of health in the WR room makes us feel even better about Kadarius Toney in this fairly neutral matchup vs. the Bengals. Toney totaled 50 yards on 6 touches last week and stands to possibly be in line for another good opportunity for involvement if Hardman doesn't suit up.

The speedy wideout didn't practice at all last week and missed the Divisional Round game vs. the Jaguars due to this injury. Limited practice early this week is a step in the right direction for Hardman. We'll keep an eye on his status as the week unfolds.

That'd again leave Kansas City with a WR corps of JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kadarius Toney, Justin Watson and potentially Skyy Moore, who missed Week 18 with a hand injury.

His absence opens up opportunity for WR Kadarius Toney -- although it's worth noting that WR Justin Watson ran more routes than Toney last week. Toney should be owned in all fantasy leagues at this point, but Watson is also worth stashing in deeper setups.

The Chiefs acquired WR Kadarius Toney from the Giants in exchange for a 2023 3rd-round compensatory pick and a 2023 6th-round pick. Injuries have limited Toney to just 12 games over his first 1-and-a-half NFL seasons, including only 2 this year. But he's flashed exciting route-running and after-the-catch ability when on the field. This is about the best-case scenario for his fantasy value, which seemed almost non-existent in New York. We'll see when Toney is able to get on the field after missing the past 5 weeks with hamstring trouble -- and then how he fits in alongside WRs JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Mecole Hardman. But if he can find playing time with QB Patrick Mahomes, Toney could quickly emerge as a fantasy factor. He's worth grabbing now in leagues where he was dropped.
