On Monday, multiple reports confirmed that the Jets will start QB Tim Boyle in Week 12 vs. the Dolphins. The struggling Zach Wilson will officially hit the bench after being pulled late in the third quarter of Sunday's 32-6 blowout loss to the Bills. Should this be the last we see of Wilson in 2023, he'll have finished the season with 1,944 passing yards (23rd among QBs), 6 TDs, and 7 INTs. This move doesn't change much for fantasy managers with how poorly the Jets' offense has played all season. Still, it's pretty difficult to argue that Wilson, the former second-overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, holds any long-term dynasty value at this point. Those in deeper 2QB/superflex leagues could consider taking a stab at Boyle, but he's no more than a desperation fill-in play.
The Jets will release QB Tim Boyle, according to CBS Sports' Josina Anderson. QB Brett Rypien is being signed off the Seahawks' practice squad in a corresponding move. We'll see who the Jets toss under center for this weekend's game vs. the Texans, but the passing game will continue to stink regardless.
Jets QB Tim Boyle will start next weekend's game vs. the Falcons, HC Robert Saleh said Saturday. Why? We're not sure. Boyle was predictably bad in Friday's loss to the Dolphins, throwing for 179 yards, one TD, and two INTs. He was sacked seven times. Boyle at least connected with WR Garrett Wilson on seven of 10 attempts for 44 yards and a score. Volume will keep Wilson in the WR2/3 mix for Week 13.
The Lions have agreed to a 1-year, $2 million deal with QB Tim Boyle, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. That's not necessarily primary backup money, so we'll see what else Detroit elects to do at the position this offseason.
ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Lions QB Tim Boyle is expected to start vs. the Falcons today. QB Jared Goff remains on the COVID list. Boyle threw for a whopping 77 yards on 3.35 yards per attempt back in Week 11 -- although, in his defense, that game was played in crappy weather. Still, Boyle is a significant downgrade for Detroit's offense today.
Lions QB Tim Boyle is expected to start Sunday's game vs. the Browns, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. QB Jared Goff didn't practice all week with his oblique injury. Boyle has 4 regular-season pass attempts to his name. He went undrafted back in 2018 after completing 55.5% of his passes, averaging 5.6 yards per attempt and tossing 12 TDs vs. 26 INTs across 4 college seasons (3 at UConn, 1 at Eastern Kentucky). There's a good chance this is a total disaster for the Lions offense. Downgrade RB D'Andre Swift and TE T.J. Hockenson.
