Browns QB Deshaun Watson has been a “full participant” through the first week of training camp, per beat writer Zac Jackson. Watson underwent November surgery to address a displaced fracture to the glenoid in his right shoulder.
Here’s Jackson on how Watson’s looked so far.
“Though Watson’s downfield accuracy has been inconsistent, the volume of deep throws over the last two practices combined with the highlight passes Thursday probably makes for the kind of progress [HC Kevin] Stefanski wants to see considering the coach said Cleveland remains in the installation phase.”
Jackson also noted Watson’s chemistry with TE David Njoku -- one of the standout players of training camp.
“Njoku’s big December last season came after Watson was out for the year, but the two have shown off a growing — and impressive — connection this week. They’ll need it to continue for the Browns to reach their lofty goals this season.”
Watson’s fantasy football ADP currently rests at QB22. So the general fantasy public isn’t buying a major turnaround in 2024.
He sits a few spots higher in our fantasy football QB rankings. Still, Watson remains best utilized as part of a spot-start QB strategy. Cleveland opens with a favorable schedule of Dallas, Jacksonville, New York (Giants) and Las Vegas -- two at home and two on the road.
