Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka posted 2-15-0 in the loss to the Saints. Egbuka led the team with 10 targets with Chris Godwin coming in second with 7 targets. Godwin now has led the team in receiving for the second straight week going 5-55-0. QB Baker Mayfield’s inaccurate passes toward Egbuka didn’t help with the output. With WRs Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan set to return soon, targets may be spread even thinner.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Egbuka hasn’t topped 42 yards receiving in the past four weeks and has not ranked better than WR39 in PPR leagues. He has been playing primarily as the X WR, especially in 2-WR sets. That likely goes to Evans when he returns.
The one benefit to Evans returning could be Egbuka getting more slot work which was touted as his best position entering the NFL. But a reduction in targets is sure to come.
The Buccaneers schedule during the playoffs has no positive match-ups. They take on the Falcons, Panthers, and Dolphins over the next three weeks.
With the match-ups and struggles of the Buccaneers’ offense, Egbuka can be benched moving forward if you have better options. If Egbuka does get more slot work (and the Bucs move toward more 11 personnel packages) then Egbuka could get back to more productive performances.
But it is doubtful we see Egbuka putting up a top-12 fantasy performance for the rest of the season.
