The Steelers backfield has been a question mark all season with RB Jaylen Warren starting and having the primary rushing role but Kenneth Gainwell’s pass catching and blocking getting him plenty of work. Both paid off for fantasy managers this week. Warren went 14-143-2 on the ground and 2-8-0 through the air on 2 targets. Gainwell went 9-50-0 on the ground and 5-78-1 through the air on 7 targets. Gainwell’s TD came on an incredible catch at the end of the first half.

For PPR leagues, Gainwell was the clear favorite heading int the match-up, but two long TD runs by Warren ended up edging him above Gainwell i scoring this week. Both finish comfortably among the top-12 RBs for Week 16 PPR scoring.
They split snaps evenly with Gainwell playing 40 snaps to Warren’s 36. Gainwell ran 25 routes to Warren’s 17. It is clear Gainwell still holds the receiving role.
Gainwell led the team in receiving with WR Adam Thielen coming in second at 4-49-0. D.K. Metcalf had 9 targets but only went 4-42-0. Metcalf was shown during the first half having an altercation with a fan. Pushing or punching the fan could lead to a major fine and possible suspension for next week.
On the other side, the Lions struggled on the ground. Jahmyr Gibbs had the worst rushing stat line of his career going 7-2-0 while David Montgomery’s 4-14-0 wasn’t much better. Of course, Gibbs made up for it through the air going 10-66-1 on 13 targets.
