Was Shoulder Injury To Blame For Bucky Irving's Slow Finish?

Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving underwent offseason shoulder surgery, according to multiple reports. We don't have any other details on the procedure, but JoeBucsFan.com reports that rehab is not expected to "significantly impact" Irving's offseason. Pewter Report hears that he should be ready to get back on the field by May.

        2026 Fantasy Football Impact

Irving suffered shoulder and ankle injuries in Week 4 and missed the next seven games. He was more effective both in fantasy football and real life prior to those injuries.

4 games pre injury 6 games post injury
PPR Points Per Game 18.5 11.1
Yards After Contact Per Attempt 2.39 2.28
Missed Tackles Forced Per Attempt 0.21 0.16

We can now safely assume that the shoulder was still an issue over those final six games of the season.

We'll keep an eye on Irving's rehab. But, barring a setback, he should be back to 100% well before the start of the 2026 campaign.

Irving boasts plenty of bounce-back potential, especially if RB Rachaad White departs in free agency. He's not coming at much of a discount in early best-ball drafts, though, with an ADP sitting in the middle of Round 3 as the 15th RB off the board.
