RB Tyler Allgeier signed a two-year, $12.25 million contract with the Cardinals, joining James Conner and Trey Benson. After serving as the backup to Bijan Robinson over the past three seasons, Allgeier will compete for carries in a crowded situation. Conner took a paycut to stay with the Cardinals, so Allgeier could lead the backfield in touches. But this certainly wasn't the ideal signing for Allgeier's fantasy value in 2026.
What They're Saying
Jordan Schultz: "BREAKING: The Cardinals are signing Falcons RB Tyler Allgeier to a 2-year, $12M, per sources. Allgeier has proven to have RB1 qualities in a shared role in Atlanta, totaling 2,876 rushing yards and 20 total TDs. A big addition."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Allgeier signing into a crowded backfield mutes his 2026 impact. Even if Allgeier leads the team in touches, Conner and Benson will remain involved.
With the lack of an impact QB, the Cardinals offense itself won't be a fanatsy boon in 2026. That doesn't make Allgeier, who could profile as the red zone back, particularly exciting.
Only signing a $12.25 million contract also lends credence to a split backfield overall.
We will see where Allgeier's ADP settles. That will ultimately determine his value in fantasy drafts.
Other Winners & Losers
The combo of Allgeier signing and Conner restructuring to stick around sure doesn't seem like good news for Benson.
Arizona's new coaching staff should mean a fresh start for every player. But if the new leadership believed in Benson, then either unloading Conner or spending the Allgeier money at another position would have made more sense.
We'll see what Benson can do this offseason. But don't head toward summer expecting a breakthrough year.
