The 49ers are signing WR Christian Kirk to a one-year, $6 million deal, insider Jordan Schultz reports. Kirk tallied a career-low 239 receiving yards in 13 games with the Texans last year. He'll turn 30 in November.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
As things stand now, Kirk looks like the 49ers' No. 3 WR behind Mike Evans and Ricky Pearsall. We'll see if the team adds competition for that spot in next month's draft.
Even if Kirk enters the season third on the depth chart, he won't be much of a fantasy option. Beyond Evans and Pearsall, Kirk will also be vying for targets with RB Christian McCaffrey and TE George Kittle.
And Kirk just isn't a very exciting player at this point. Since his only 1,000-yard season back in 2022, he's steadily declined to 787, 379, and then 239 yards over the past three seasons. He's also coming off a career-worst 0.86 yards per route last year, which ranked 73rd among 76 qualifying WRs.
The best we can say for Kirk is that the four guys ahead of him in the target pecking order all come with relatively lengthy injury histories.
Still, Kirk isn't worth a pick in most fantasy drafts.
