Saints RB Alvin Kamara has been bandied as a trade or cut candidate all offseason, especially since the arrival of RB Travis Etienne. But, appearing on Terron Armstead's The Set on Monday, Kamara sounded set on returning for another season in New Orleans.
What They're Saying
Kamara: “I watched [Etienne] in Jacksonville the last couple years and [he’s] explosive. He hit home runs. He did it in college. Strong dude, seems smart. I’m excited to see what we can do together. ... [The signing] ain’t nothing but some help in the backfield. That’s the name of the game. Shoot, one person can’t do it by themselves, so I’m cool with it.”
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
We're not putting Kamara's name in ink on the 2026 Saints just yet, with the season still four months away. But his return would certainly have a significant fantasy impact in New Orleans.
We have no doubt that Etienne would be the lead back. The Saints made him the league's eighth highest paid RB with a four-year, $48 million deal in free agency. And Kamara looked like a player on his last legs in 2025, posting career lows in yards per carry (3.6) and yards per catch (5.6).
But Kamara still garnered a 10.8% target share in his 10 full games last year. He's one of the most accomplished pass-catching backs in NFL history and would likely have some type of role in that department this season.
We'll see exactly how big a role that is, but Kamara would undoubtedly put a dent in Etienne's fantasy value.
Etienne is an avoid at his current mid-third-round ADP.
