Cameron Ward Headshot

What was hoped to be a dynamic start to Cam Ward’s second preseason fell a bit short. Ward completed five of 12 pass attempts for just 57 passing yards and no TDs.

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Keep Projections, Trim Excitement

After going first overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, Ward finished his rookie season with 13.6 fantasy points per game (PPG) and struggled to be an efficient passer. His 5.9 adjusted yards per attempt ranks 19th among 29 eligible first-round rookie quarterbacks over the past 10 seasons.

In hopes of a breakout in year two, Ward’s initial preseason game ahead of it wasn’t too encouraging. It wasn’t the type of disastrous preseason start that makes you rethink your projections, but it also wasn’t a performance that suggested a major Ward breakout is coming.

The Titans opened preseason with what’s expected to be most of their offensive starters this season, including Ward’s new, highly drafted WR Carnell Tate. But even Tate finished without producing a catch after having 3 targets thrown his way.

Without much success in the initial preseason game for the Ward to Tate connection that was building buzz during training camp, we’re left waiting until next Sunday to see if the duo can give us a flash of what’s hoped to come during the season.
