In the Cardinals' first offseason under the current coaching regime, the team waived their 2024 third-round pick Trey Benson, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Depth Chart Disruptor At Best
Benson spent two limited seasons with the Cardinals. In his only campaign with at least 5 games played, he managed just 3.8 PPR fantasy points per game (PPG).
The underwhelming production showed up in college, too: Benson failed to reach 15.0 rushing PPG or 5.0 receiving PPG in any season.
Despite missing both marks, Benson still became the 14th running back drafted on Day 2. Of the 13 backs taken before him, just two posted an NFL season of at least 15.0 PPG.
The odds have been slim on Benson since he entered the league, and getting waived heading into his third season leaves him looking like a depth chart disruptor at best.
