Emeka Egbuka is traveling with the team to Jacksonville for the team’s final preseason game but isn’t expected to play as he continues to rest his toe injury, per Greg Auman of Fox Sports. Auman says he would be surprised to see Egbuka practice next week as well, as the focus and expectation are to have him back for opening weekend the following week.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Short-Term Cloud, Long-Term Bet
Egbuka heads into his second season with plenty of buzz after becoming one of just 18 first-round rookie wide receivers to command at least a 22% target share since 2006.
Of the previous 17 to do so, all but one went on to post at least 14.0 PPR points per game (PPG) in a season while over half have achieved at least 16.0 PPG in their career.
Unfortunately, after getting rolled up on by a teammate in the beginning of August during a joint practice, Egbuka has been dealing with a toe sprain.
The injury isn't likely to affect his season-long production, but it has clouded his availability for the start of the season.
The expectation remains that Egbuka will be healthy and playing in Week 1, and we'll continue to update this as new information comes in.
