On the same day that Rome Odunze leaves practice, Swift also leaves with an apparent injury. Sean Hammond of the Chicago Tribune reports that “After carrying the ball on a first-and-10 from the offense’s own 1-yard line, Swift came off the field apparently holding at his midsection or core area.” The Bears are now dealing with injuries to their top two running backs.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Durability Eases the Panic
Swift has been one of the most durable running backs in the league over the past three years. He’s only missed a total of two games in that span while accounting for at least 40% of the team’s rush attempts in each season.
2026 will be his third season with the Bears, and there hasn’t been a reason to believe his usage will look different than it has the previous two.
Ben Johnson won’t discuss Swift’s latest injury until he next meets with the media next week.
Still, there’s plenty of reason for optimism that the durable back will be full-go for the Bears’ opening matchup against the Panthers in 10 days.
