Running back TreVeyon Henderson left practice early last Monday with what has been labeled a ‘minor’ ankle injury. But with Mike Reiss reporting that Henderson didn’t practice today, concern is starting to grow that we won’t see him on opening night, which falls on Wednesday for the Patriots. The team will submit its first injury report later today.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Opening Night in Jeopardy
Henderson was a bit underwhelming as a rookie, accounting for just 36.4% of the team’s rush attempts and posting an 8.4% target share. It was at least good enough to be deemed a split between him and fellow running back Rhamondre Stevenson.
Despite sharing a near-identical carry and target share with fifth-year Stevenson in his first season, the reports are that the sixth-year back has the edge for the higher share in 2026.
Since those reports, it hasn’t helped that Henderson went down and has remained out for nearly two weeks with an ankle injury.
Now, with just four days until the Patriots open their season against the Seahawks, Henderson is running out of time to get on the field before he’s ruled out for the start of the 2026 campaign.
