Seahawks QB Sam Darnold's hip is not broken, HC Mike Macdonald said after Wednesday night's win over the Patriots. "At this point, we are able to rule out a fracture," Macdonald said. "So there's some more tests to be done. ... We're still working through all that, but right now I think fracture is out, which is great news." A CT scan on Darnold's hip returned "encouraging but inconclusive" results, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. He's scheduled for an MRI on Thursday.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Expect More Drew Lock
It sounds like Darnold dodged a season-ending injury, but his status beyond that remains murky for now. Macdonald admitted that his starting QB is uncertain for Week 2's game against the Cardinals.
Expect to see more Drew Lock under center for Seattle. He played very well in relief of Darnold on Wednesday night, completing 16 of 22 passes for 187 yards, 1 TD, and 0 INTs in the comeback win.
Lock has never lacked arm talent, and maybe more experience plus an elite defense can sharpen the finer points of his game.
He's not worth adding outside of 2-QB and superflex leagues. But we're optimistic that Lock can keep Seattle's offense on track for guys like WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba and RB Jadarian Price.
