Javonte Williams led all Cowboys with 24.4 PPR points after scoring both a rushing and receiving TD in Sunday night’s loss to the Giants. Williams handled 12 carries for 41 yards while adding 5 receptions on as many targets for 31 yards as a receiver out of the backfield.

In Williams' initial season with the Cowboys last year, he was responsible for 57.6% of the team’s rush attempts. That’s essentially what we saw Sunday night to open his second season with the Cowboys, as Williams handled 66.7% of the carries with 12 rush attempts.
The 14.7% target share would nearly double last season’s average, and given that Williams has never earned that high of a share across his five-year career, it’s not a level of receiving usage we should expect to stick moving forward.
That’s especially true when accounting for the negative game script the Cowboys faced for nearly the entire game.
Williams finished as the RB12 with 15.2 PPR points per game last season, and with the combination of season-long expectations and the sample we saw from Week 1, he should be expected to finish similarly this season.
