Nico Collins Headshot

Texans WR Nico Collins is getting tests on his injured hamstring, according to insider Aaron Wilson. "Severity of injury still being determined," Wilson adds. ESPN's DJ Bien-Aime has video of Collins looking fine in individual drills at the start of Wednesday's practice. Add it up and it seems like Collins injured the hamstring later on in practice today, putting his Week 2 availability in serious doubt.

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Don't Plan On Collins This Week

We'll look for further updates on Collins, but fantasy managers should not plan on having him this week. And it's possible that he misses more time beyond that.

Collins missed 5 games with a hamstring injury in 2024, although it's unclear if this latest injury is to the same side or of the same severity.

Other Winners & Losers: Targets Available, But Will It Matter?

The Texans already lost WR Jayden Higgins for the season and now might be without their No. 1 WR. In the opener, Collins accounted for:

  • 26.3% of Houston's targets
  • 26.9% of the receptions
  • 27.3% of the receiving yards

QB C.J. Stroud averaged just 6.8 yards per pass attempt in 9 games without Collins over the previous 3 seasons vs. 7.6 in 43 games with him.

Collins' absence would free up targets for WRs Kayshon Boutte, Jaylin Noel, and Xavier Hutchinson. Boutte and Noel are worth rostering in deeper fantasy leagues but can't be trusted in Week 2 lineups.

TE Dalton Schultz also gets a boost if Collins misses time.
