Jaylen Waddle Headshot

Broncos WR Jaylen Waddle caught 8 of 10 targets for 138 yards in the Broncos win against the Jaguars. That came off the heels of Waddle’s disappointing Week 1 performance catching 1 of 3 targets for 2 yards. The Broncos got Waddle involved early and often in the game plan, with scripted passes to him allowing Waddle to pick up yards after the catch. He appears back on the track of being an every-week starter.

The Broncos passing game in general bounced back well with QB Bo Nix throwing for 288 yards along with a TD and INT.

Waddle was the clear winner with 10 targets. Courtland Sutton was next with 4, though he caught 3 for only 25 yards.

Waddle became a bit of an extension of the run game with RB RJ Harvey missing the game due to a hamstring injury. J.K. Dobbins started the game, but exited with his own hamstring injury. The team did find some success with rookie RB Jonah Coleman who ran 10 times for 39 yards and a TD. He also caught all 3 of his targets for 19 yards.

The Broncos offense took a step forward, but it still struggled for most of the game. They had only 6 points heading into the fourth quarter before scoring both of their TDs in that final period.

Still, it was a step in the right direction after an abysmal Week 1 performance that produced only 10 points against the Chiefs.

They will play the Rams and 49ers over the next two weeks.
