Vikings QB Kyler Murray posted 247 scoreless yards in Sunday’s win over Miami, adding 16 yards on the ground. Murray took a conservative approach without Jefferson, leading to a comically low 4.9-yard average depth of target and an excellent 73.0% completion rate.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Murray never looked comfortable against Miami, even with the Dolphins presenting a favorable passing matchup. He faced pressure on nearly 40% of his dropbacks and absorbed 4 sacks.
That pressure likely contributed to an extremely conservative passing approach. Murray didn’t attempt a pass of 20+ yards, while only 18.9% of his throws traveled 10+ air yards. Per Next Gen Stats, that was the lowest single-game rate for any QB under HC Kevin O’Connell.
Again, playing without Justin Jefferson was a significant factor. But based on what we've seen so far, even if Jefferson returns next week, Murray will be more of a QB2 than QB1 against New Orleans.
Other Winners & Losers
T.J. Hockenson benefited from Murray's conservative style. In one of the most shocking lines of Week 4, the veteran racked up 13 receptions (on 13 targets) for 119 yards. He made several tight, contested catches on the way to his best fantasy performance since the 2023 season.
His target share was a massive 35.1%. It's not a repeatable number -- especially if Jefferson can make it back for Week 5. Still, this is the type of showing that could build in more weekly volume for Hockenson even when Jefferson returns.
Meanwhile, Jordan Addison was just OK in his cameo as a No. 1 WR, with 4 catches (6 targets) for 52 yards.
Early on, he dodged an injury after taking a shot to the shoulder while stretching for an incomplete pass over the middle. Later, he picked up chunk gains of 19 and 27 on a couple of well-thrown balls from Murray. On one, Addison showed his run-after-catch skills to break a pair of tackles and fall forward for extra yardage.
Justin Jefferson may return for Week 5, but we'll closely track his practice participation. If Jefferson remains out, Addison will garner another look as a WR3/flex option vs. New Orleans.
