Cardinals HC Matt LaFleur said RB Jeremiyah Love injured the opposite ankle in Week 4 as the one he hurt this preseason. LaFleur called it a "tweak" and "a management type of thing." This certainly doesn't seem like a serious injury, but Love's comments after the game make it a bit more concerning.
What They're Saying
Love after the Week 4 loss to the Giants: "I'm really frustrated with myself because I just want to be good. I want to be 100% and I want to go out there and do what I need to do. Not saying I'm not 100%, but I'm not where I want to be. I'm not able to go out there and do spectacular plays every single time or stuff like that. So, just frustrated with myself, not with the coaches, but they're doing a great job of managing me. It's not really just my ankle. It's more of just the whole thing. It's been a long year for me. Body sometimes is down, body sometimes is tired. So it's just managing those things. Coaches know that this is probably going to be the longest year of my life. And just want to manage that workload."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Expect Week-To-Week Volatility
Love sounded frustrated and dejected after Sunday's game -- not words you want to use to describe a RB, or any player.
The rookie appeared to be taking control of Arizona's backfield with a 64% snap rate and 26 touches in Week 3, but he fell back to a 46% snap rate and 15 touches in Week 4.
That workload swing, coupled with Love's comments about his body and the team's efforts to manage him, makes him a volatile fantasy asset at least in the short term. Week 3 showed the upside, but we can't count on that level of usage every week while he's dealing with health issues.
Love remains in the starting mix for most fantasy teams, but treat him as a risk/reward RB2 rather than a locked-in workhorse. We'll monitor his practice participation and Arizona's plans for his Week 5 workload.
