Amari Cooper Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Browns WR Amari Cooper aggravated his hip injury on the 1st play of Sunday's loss to the Bengals. Within that context, it's positive that he played on and trailed Donovan Peoples-Jones by just 5 routes for the lead among WRs. Of course, Cooper also managed just 2 catches among 7 targets. We'll see what practice participation and his coaches say about him this week.

Browns WR Donovan Peoples-Jones drew a season-high 12 targets in Sunday's loss to the Bengals, leading the team in that category, receptions (8) and receiving yards (114). He led Amari Cooper by 5 pass routes in a game Cooper entered questionable with a hip issue. Cooper did check in 3rd on the team with 7 targets but caught only 2 (for 42 yards). His usage bodes well for his Week 15 role. TE David Njoku finished between the wideouts with 9 targets, catching 7 balls for 59 yards and the team's lone TD.

Browns WR Amari Cooper (hip) is active for today’s game vs. the Bengals. Cooper injured his hip on Thursday and then wasn't able to practice on Friday. NFL Network’s James Palmer reports that “there could be a pitch count in place” for Cooper today. He’s a risky fantasy play.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that Browns WR Amari Cooper (hip) "has a good chance to play" Sunday against the Bengals. That agrees with Cooper's stated expectation earlier in the week. We'll confirm his status Sunday morning.

Browns WR Amari Cooper (hip) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Bengals. Cooper injured his hip on Thursday and then wasn't able to practice on Friday. ESPN's Jake Trotter asked Cooper on Friday afternoon if he'll be available for Sunday's game and Cooper replied, "should be." We'll get Cleveland's inactives around 11:30 am ET on Sunday. If Cooper does play, he'll carry elevated risk in fantasy lineups.

Browns WR Amari Cooper was added to the injury report and limited in practice on Thursday with a hip issue. We don't have any other details at this point. We'll see what Cooper does in Friday's practice and how he's listed on the final injury report for this weekend's game vs. the Bengals.

Browns WR Amari Cooper drew 9 targets, 41% of the team's total pass attempts in QB Deshaun Watson's debut Sunday against the Texans. Cooper managed just 4 receptions for 40 yards. Watson completed only 54.5% of his throws in his 1st action since the 2020 season. We'd assume Watson will improve from here, but it'll need to happen quickly for Cooper's sake.

Browns WR Amari Cooper drew a target on 32.4% of QB Jacoby Brissett's dropbacks in Sunday's OT win over the Buccaneers, turning his 12 looks into 7 catches for 94 yards. Cooper could have had even more but dropped a long pass late in regulation. He made up for that with a 46-yard reception to set up the game-winning TD run in OT. For the game, Cooper accounted for 30.4% of Browns receptions and 44.8% of receiving yards. WR David Bell ranked 2nd among wideouts with 4 catches for 23 yards on 6 targets. WR Donovan Peoples-Jones contributed just 2 receptions for 16 yards among 4 targets. WR Anthony Schwartz added 1 catch but ran for a 31-yard TD on a 1st-quarter reverse. Browns receivers should have a new QB next time out, with Deshaun Watson eligible to return from suspension in Week 13.

Browns QB Jacoby Brissett threw for 324 yards and 3 TDs in Sunday's loss to the Bills in Detroit. It was his 1st 300-yard game of the season and just his 2nd with multiple TD passes. WR Amari Cooper led the way with 8 catches for 113 yards and 2 TDs on 12 targets. WR Donovan Peoples-Jones snagged the other TD among 5 receptions for 61 yards. Brissett gets 1 more start -- at home against the Buccaneers -- before Deshaun Watson becomes available in Week 13.

The NFL is moving Sunday's Bills-Browns game to Detroit, according to The Athletic's Tim Graham. Buffalo is expected to get pounded with 4+ feet of snow over the next few days. Moving from those conditions to a dome is obviously great news for all of the fantasy players in this game.

Browns WR Amari Cooper snagged 3 of 4 targets for 74 yards in Week 7. He seemed to be on his way to a big day after hauling in a 55-yard deep ball in the 1st quarter. Yet in total, he saw just a 14.8% target share. Cooper's still racked up 70+ yards in 4 of his past 6 matchups. And Cleveland’s game script could force more passing than desired this week against the surging Bengals.

Browns WR Amari Cooper caught 4 balls for 44 yards and Cleveland's only TD in Sunday's loss to the Patriots. He drew 12 targets, a 26.7% share and double the total of his nearest teammate. The Browns get an upside passing matchup vs. Baltimore in Week 7.

Browns WR Amari Cooper rebounded from a disappointing Week 4 to deliver a 7-76-1 receiving line among 12 targets in Sunday's loss to the Chargers. He ate up 35.3% of Cleveland targets for the game. WR Donovan Peoples-Jones ranked 2nd at 7 looks, catching 4 or 50 yards.

Browns TE David Njoku caught 5 balls among 7 targets for a team-with 73 yards in Sunday's loss to the Falcons. He tied for the team reception lead with WR Donovan Peoples-Jones, who led Cleveland with 9 targets. DPJ collected 71 yards. No other Brown exceeded 35 yards receiving. TE Harrison Bryant was the only other player with more than 2 receptions. He caught 4 of 6 targets for 18 yards. WR Amari Cooper drew just 4 looks and caught only 1 for 9 yards.

After posting a 9-101-1 line in Week 2, Browns WR Amari Cooper racked up 7 catches on 11 targets for 101 yards and a TD in Thursday night's win over the Steelers. Cooper was creating big separation all night, scoring on a slant from 11 yards out and tallying 3 grabs of 18+ yards. After garnering 17.6% of Browns targets in the opener, Cooper has registered big 37.0% and 35.5% target shares the past 2 outings. If he stays anywhere near that level, he'll be an every-week fantasy starter -- even in a run-leaning Cleveland offense.

Browns WR Amari Cooper came alive for 9 catches, 101 yards and 1 score vs. the Jets. His 10 targets led the team and represented a huge 37% share. He also saw a whopping 68% of Cleveland’s air yards. His lone score came on a busted zone coverage in the end zone. Overall, it was nice to see a more accurate Jacoby Brissett utilizing Cooper in the short to intermediate ranges. The former Cowboy should be treated as a WR3 for now.

WR Donovan Peoples-Jones led the Browns in targets (11), receptions (6) and receiving yards (60) in Sunday's win over the Panthers. He beat WR Amari Cooper by 5 targets, while RB Kareem Hunt was the only other Cleveland player to catch more than 3 balls or crack 20 receiving yards. Cooper managed just a 3-17 receiving line on his 6 looks. Anthony Schwartz drew the only other 2 targets among WRs.

Following a settlement between the Browns and the league, QB Deshaun Watson will be suspended 11 games. He’ll pay a $5 million fine and be required to enter a treatment program. Watson’s now scheduled to make his Browns debut in Week 13… at Houston. The 11-game suspension makes Watson undraftable outside of deep 2-QB leagues and maybe as a last-round pick in best-ball tournaments. The fantasy values of guys like Nick Chubb, Amari Cooper and David Njoku also take a hit with the news. We'll see if Cleveland makes a move for QB Jimmy Garoppolo.
