Saints QB Drew Brees is scheduled for an MRI on the foot he injured in Monday night's loss to the Lions, according to insider Nick Underhill.  Brees was hurt late in the 2nd quarter and was noticeably hobbled in the 2nd half.  He was in a walking boot after the game.  “I dont know what we got going here,” Brees said. “We’ll know more tomorrow after the MRI."  We'll pass along an update when we get one.

Saints QB Drew Brees hurt the bottom of his right foot against the Lions. He didn't miss any time but got his foot taped -- "in the arch area," according to ESPN's Lisa Salters -- between possessions and was still limping noticeably. We'll see what more we can learn about the issue and how it affects him. Any downgrade would not only hurt this week but also potentially impact Brees in a high-upside matchup with the Jaguars in Week 16.

As expected, Saints QB Drew Brees (shoulder) is active for tonight’s meeting with Dallas. We’ll keep a close eye on his arm strength, but the veteran certainly carries QB1 upside at home in a positive matchup.

Saints QB Drew Brees (shoulder) is probable for Sunday night’s game against the Cowboys. “I think he’s planning on starting and we’re planning on starting him,” HC Sean Payton said Friday. “He looked crisp today. I think he’s going to end up starting and based on the way the week unfolded each day, I felt like he’s made the progress we’re looking for.” The shoulder is still a concern, and the Cowboys are a neutral matchup. It makes Brees a low-end QB1 for Week 4.

Saints QB Drew Brees' Tuesday throwing session went well, according to ESPN's Ed Werder, and he's expected to practice with the team on Wednesday.  Barring a setback over the next few days, it looks like Brees is on track to return for Sunday night's game against the Cowboys.  He'll be a lower-end QB1 for that one.

Saints QB Drew Brees will test his injured shoulder on Tuesday, according to ESPN's Ed Werder.  Brees spent the weekend rehabbing in an attempt to regain strength in that throwing shoulder.  We'll track his progress throughout the week.  For now, consider him questionable for Sunday night's game against the Cowboys.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Saints QB Drew Brees (shoulder) is a "long shot" for Week 4 .  "He’s working hard it, but has a steep climb," Rapaport adds.  Brees tried to throw on Friday but didn't fare well.  It sounds like Luke McCown is the favorite to be under center next weekend against the Cowboys.  It's bad news for all the Saints' skill-position guys.

Saints QB Drew Brees' "strength and velocity" are keeping him out for Sunday's game against the Panthers, according to insider Mike Triplett.  Brees reportedly tried to throw on Friday morning, but it didn't go well.  "I think just where he's at in the rehab and the strength, I think he felt -- I think we all felt -- like it would be too early, him playing this weekend," HC Sean Payton said. "He felt like he made progress throughout the week, and yet it's still not where it needs to be or where we would feel comfortable with the strength that he needs. But he did get better each day, and we'll just see where it's at next week."  It certainly doesn't sound like Brees is a lock to return for Week 4.

Saints QB Drew Brees (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Panthers.  It's his 1st missed game due to injury since 2005.  New Orleans is left with Luke McCown under center.  He's not a fantasy option and significantly lowers the ceiling of everyone else in the Saints passing game.

Saints HC Sean Payton believes there's a "good chance" that QB Drew Brees (shoulder) plays against the Panthers this weekend.  Brees' outlook has seemingly improved each day this week.  He didn't throw on Wednesday but is expected to test out that shoulder on Thursday or Friday.  We'll continue to update his progress.  If he plays, though, Brees will be a risky QB1.

Saints QB Drew Brees (shoulder) told reporters on Wednesday that he has "every intention" of playing against the Panthers this weekend.  He described himself as "day to day" and admitted that he didn't throw at all during Wednesday's practice.  We'll continue to keep an eye on his progress this week, but owners should obviously be lining up a backup plan.

Saints HC Sean Payton confirmed that QB Drew Brees did not suffer a serious injury in Sunday's loss to the Bucs.  There was fear that Brees tore his rotator cuff, but an MRI revealed just a bruise.  "It's not gonna be something where it's long-term. I think both he and the doctors are all optimistic," Payton said. "A lot of it is gonna be on the treatment and his ability to come back and really feel like he's got the strength he needs."  Brees still seems extremely iffy for this Sunday's game against the Panthers, though, and could be looking at a multi-week absence.

ESPN's Ed Werder has a slightly more optimistic report on Saints QB Drew Brees than NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.  According to Werder, Brees' playing status depends on how he responds to treatment.  Werder adds that Brees experienced "pain" and "weakness" in the shoulder after taking a big hit in Sunday's loss to the Bucs.  We're still considering him questionable at best to play this weekend.  And we'll have to see how the shoulder impacts his throws if he plays through the injury.

Saints QB Drew Brees could miss "several games" with the shoulder injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Bucs.  We still don't have details on exactly what's wrong with Brees' shoulder or how long he'll be out, but it's obviously a bigger issue than he and the team made it seem Sunday night and Monday night.  Brees hasn't missed a game with injury since tearing his labrum in 2005.  New Orleans would turn to 34-year-old Luke McCown, who has attempted exactly 1 regular-season pass in the last 3 seasons.

Saints QB Drew Brees injured his right (throwing) shoulder in Sunday's loss to the Bucs.  He played through it but admitted that it had an impact.  "I want to say a few balls downfield didn't come out very well," Brees said.  He finished the game with 255 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT on a 63.2% completion rate.  HC Sean Payton said Monday that Brees might take some practice time off this week, but it doesn't sound like he's in any danger of missing Sunday's game against the Panthers.  Still, the shoulder issue certainly adds risk to Brees' Week 3 outlook.

Multiple NFL coaches and executives told ESPN's Mike Sando that Saints QB Drew Brees is on the decline.  "He doesn't throw as well," an OC said.  "His lower body is not as good. He's been nicked up a little bit. He is just losing his juice. Things have to be perfect for him to be himself."  A HC added, "When guys get older and start getting hit, especially guys with vision problems, they start playing a lot faster, almost too fast, and panic shows up. I saw some of that in Drew last season."  Brees turned in another top-3 fantasy finish last year, but he set 5-year lows in yards per attempt (7.5) and TD rate (5.0%).  Brees still completed a sizzling 69.2% of his throws, though, so it's tough to believe his accuracy is waning much.  The bigger concerns for his 2015 fantasy football outlook are the losses of Jimmy Graham, Kenny Stills and Pierre Thomas and the move toward a more balanced offense.

The Saints added QB Garrett Grayson in the 3rd round of the 2015 NFL Draft.  He'll get to study under QB Drew Brees, who is 36 and has 2 years left on his contract.  Grayson broke out this past season with a 64.3% completion rate, 32 TDs and 7 INTs.  He doesn't have a huge arm but shows good accuracy and anticipation.  In others words, he seems like a good fit in HC Sean Payton's offense.  Grayson is worth stashing in deep dynasty leagues.

The Saints continued to bolster their offensive line by selecting Stanford OT Andrus Peat with the 13th overall pick.  A 2-year starter at LT for the Cardinal, Peat has as much upside as any O-linemen in this draft class.  The 6'7, 313-pounder is a strong run-blocker with the foot quickness to develop into a plus pass protector.  He figures to start for the Saints this season, either at RT or LT.

The Saints have traded WR Kenny Stills to the Dolphins, according to multiple sources.  The purge continues in New Orleans, where Stills, Jimmy Graham and Ben Grubbs have been shipped out of town.  QB Drew Brees is left with Brandin Cooks, Marques Colston and not much else.  The Fins, meanwhile, pick up a cheap, 22-year-old (23 next month) who's been 1 of the most efficient WRs in the league over the past 2 seasons.  Stills has hauled in 70.9% of his targets and averaged 16.5 yards per catch.  Often miscast as only a downfield threat, Stills is actually a well-rounded receiver.  Per Pro Football Focus' Mike Clay, his 82% catch rate on targets 20 yards or less downfield is tops in the NFL since at least 2007.  QB Drew Brees deserves some credit for that, but it's also worth noting that Stills led all Saints pass-catchers last year by averaging 2.03 yards per route run.  This is a crazy-efficient WR who gives QB Ryan Tannehill's fantasy stock a nice boost.  Stills' probably takes a slight hit, but he's capable of WR3 production in Miami.

Saints QB Drew Brees (oblique) returned to practice on Sunday.  He ended up missing about 2 weeks, plus New Orleans' first 2 preseason games.  He'll be back for the 3rd exhibition, though.  The injury was never a concern.  Brees remains a sure-fire top-3 fantasy QB.
