Packers RB Eddie Lacy (ankle) suggested Thursday that he could be a game-time decision for this weekend's meeting with the Cowboys. "Hopefully I'm able to get out there and play. It's going to come down to Sunday," he said. "I'm going to do everything in my power to be able to put myself in the best position when it's game time to go out there and play." Lacy has put in a pair of limited practices so far this week. Hopefully we have more clarity on his status after Friday's workout. Packers-Cowboys doesn't kick off until 4:25 pm ET on Sunday.

Eddie Lacy might actually be the healthier Packers RB right now. He was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice with his ankle injury. RB James Starks, meanwhile, sat out altogether with a knee issue. It's the 1st we've heard of Starks' injury. We'll keep an eye on the situation over the next few days. Whoever's getting the ball in the Packers backfield this week will get a Cowboys defense allowing 4.8 yards per carry to RBs.

Packers RB Eddie Lacy (ankle) was held out of Wednesday's practice, instead spending the day rehabbing that sprained ankle. The injury reportedly isn't overly serious, but Lacy certainly isn't a lock to play against the Cowboys this weekend. Check back tomorrow for another update.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy said Monday that RB Eddie Lacy's ankle injury is "not serious." He stopped short of guaranteeing that Lacy would be ready for Week 6 against the Cowboys, though. We'll need to keep an eye on his practice participation this week. It's worth noting that Lacy dealt with ankle trouble both last year and in 2013.

Packers RB Eddie Lacy left Sunday night's game with a left ankle injury. It wasn't clear when he suffered the ailment, and NBC reported that he tried to return. As of late in the 3rd quarter, his return was questionable. It doesn't seem like a serious issue -- at least beyond this week -- but we'll obviously keep an eye on the situation. Lacy started the game running quite well against a Giants run defense that played well over the 1st 3 weeks.

Packers WR Randall Cobb has been seeing "extensive duty as the third-down back," according to insider Bob McGinn. We've seen Green Bay use Cobb in the backfield before. He's carried 24 times over the past 2 seasons. Getting the ball in his hands more often is a good idea for the Packers and good news for his fantasy owners. Cobb's backfield role could also dent Eddie Lacy and James Starks' production.

Packers RB Eddie Lacy injured his ankle on Wednesday and did not practice on Thursday. We haven't heard anything from the media or team to suggest it's a major concern, but it certainly bears monitoring. Lacy battled an ankle injury throughout his 2013 rookie season and also hurt an ankle in Week 2 last year.

ESPN's Rob Demovsky expects the Packers to split RB touches between Eddie Lacy and James Starks and then "ride Lacy down the stretch." Demovsky notes that Green Bay “didn’t give Starks $3 million per year to not play." That's fair. But Starks has been a pretty average player throughout his career. Lacy, on the other hand, was 1 of the best RBs in the league over his first 2 seasons. If he regains that form, we'd expect him to serve as the clear lead back. But we'll be keeping a close eye on this situation over the next month.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy is ready to put questions about RB Eddie Lacy's weight to bed. "Eddie's ready," McCarthy said Tuesday. Lacy reportedly lost 15-18 pounds between the end of last season and the start of OTAs in April. He continued working with personal trainer Tony Horton this summer and "appeared to be leaner" for the start of training camp, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. Lacy has lots on the line in the last year of his rookie deal. He seems ready to recapture the form that made him a top 8 PPR RB in both of his first 2 seasons.

Packers RB Eddie Lacy admits that his disappointing 2015 season was a "wakeup call."  He's had a productive offseason by all accounts, reportedly losing 15-18 pounds.  Although he might not be at his target weight just yet -- “he’ll hit the target that we’re all looking for when the lights come on," HC Mike McCarthy said -- Lacy still has more than 3 months until the start of the season.  He's primed for a bounce-back season and is being drafted nearly 2 rounds later this year than last.

Packers players returned to Green Bay on Monday for the offseason program, and that reportedly included less of RB Eddie Lacy than we saw last year. According to ESPN.com, Lacy has lost 15-18 pounds through his well-publicized workout regimen. That certainly bodes well for the bounce-back potential in 1 of 2015's biggest fantasy football disappointments. We'll see where it goes from here, but Lacy has opened as a solid value in Round 3 of early best-ball drafting.

ESPN's Adam Caplan reports that the Packers have reached a new deal with free-agent RB James Starks. The 30-year-old posted career highs in rushing attempts, rushing yards, receptions, receiving yards, yards per catch and total TDs last year, with Eddie Lacy disappointing the Packers almost as much as he did fantasy football owners. But with Lacy apparently rededicating to his conditioning this offseason, the Starks re-signing could be good news for Lacy's fantasy value. Starks failed to seize the lead job last year when the Packers gave him the chance and has been a just-decent receiving back throughout his career. He should present less of a threat to Lacy's volume than a more dynamic complement might. (Early Matt Forte rumors never materialized.) We'll see how the rest of this offseason plays out, but we're betting on Lacy to return to early-round fantasy worth and Starks to look like nothing more than a handcuff option in the double-digit rounds.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy confirmed from the Combine on Thursday that RB Eddie Lacy is working with P90X founder and noted personal trainer Tony Horton.  It's a positive step after Lacy was overweight in 2015.  “Eddie will take care of business,” McCarthy said. “I have great confidence that he will. I think we’ll see definitely a different guy in April, and more importantly in July.”  Still just 25 years old with a couple of top 8 fantasy seasons under his belt, Lacy has clear bounce-back potential in 2016.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy confirmed in Monday's season-ending press conference that RB Eddie Lacy is overweight.  That was obvious to anyone who saw Lacy rockin' his skin-tight belly jersey throughout the year.  "Eddie Lacy, he's got a lot of work to do. His offseason last year was not good enough, and he never recovered from it," McCarthy said. "He cannot play at the weight he was at this year."  Lacy finished with career-lows in carries (187), rush yards (758) and TDs (3).  He missed 1 game with injury and was benched on 2 separate occasions.  Still just 25 with 2 top-8 fantasy seasons under his belt, though, there's bounce-back potential here.  We'll keep a close eye on Lacy this offseason.  The fact that 2016 is a contract year for him should provide extra motivation.

The Packers will play without LT David Bakhtiari (ankle), who is inactive against Washington. That takes away the blindside protector for QB Aaron Rodgers, while RT Bryan Bulaga is playing through his own ankle sprain. Of course, with this being the last game of the weekend, you're probably not making any fantasy lineup changes at this point. We'll see how big an impact Bakhtiari's absence has in pass protection and the run game vs. a soft Washington rush D.

The forecast for today's Cowboys-Packers game calls for an 80% chance of rain with 11-14 mph winds.  It's not quite enough for us to move any guys in this game in the Week 14 rankings, but use the weather as a tiebreaker.  This could turn into a run-heavy game on both sides.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Eddie Lacy will be the Packers' #1 RB against the Cowboys today.  "After an impressive week of practice and a wake-up call, the Packers believed Eddie Lacy responded well," Rapoport adds.  James Starks and potentially John Crockett will still be involved, and Lacy's uneven season adds risk.  But he's worth getting into lineups as a RB2 in most cases.  Dallas sits 26th in Football Outsiders' run defense rankings.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy suggested Tuesday that RB Eddie Lacy has a chance to earn the starting job back after being relegated last week for missing curfew.  "I think Eddie's been rejuvenated," McCarthy said. "His work was good today. I checked in on him just like I do with all the players, and I look for him to have a very good week of practice, and I look for him to be productive Sunday."  Lacy had popped off 2 straight 100-yard games prior to last week and remains the most talented RB in Green Bay.  He'll be a risk/reward RB2 against the Cowboys this weekend.

ESPN's Rob Demovsky reports that Packers RB Eddie Lacy violated curfew Wednesday night in Detroit, which led to his scant playing time Thursday against the Lions. It's not clear whether this was a 1-time violation or a recurring issue, but Green Bay followed the Thursday night treatment by working out RB Montee Ball on Friday. The Packers also cut undrafted rookie RB Alonzo Harris for the same violation. As for how Lacy can work his way out of the doghouse, HC Mike McCarthy said: “He needs to build off his preparation. He’s put up some yards in the prior games, but he can be better. We need to be better as a team, frankly." Let's hope we can get a clearer message on Lacy's status heading into Week 14 (and beyond).

Packers RB Eddie Lacy was virtually invisible in Thursday night's miracle win over the Lions, carrying 5 times for 4 yards and losing 3 yards on his only catch.  HC Mike McCarthy didn't go into details about Lacy's role afterward, but did say that the RB "didn't have a great week."  The TV broadcast crew hinted during the game that Lacy had some issues in practice.  The total dud came after Lacy had ripped off back-to-back 100-yard games.  But RB James Starks got the start on Thursday night, and even undrafted rookie John Crockett played ahead of Lacy in the 2nd half.  We'll keep an eye on the situation, but Lacy will be nearly impossible to trust in Week 14 fantasy lineups.
