The Raiders have signed RB Isaiah Crowell to a 1-year contract. Crowell averaged 4.8 yards per carry in a wildly inconsistent 2018 with the Jets. He delivered 219 yards in a win over the Dolphins and racked up 102 and 2 TDs on just 10 carries in the surprise opening blowout win at Detroit. But Crowell cracked 50 yards just 1 other time and tallied only 143 rushing attempts (plus 21 catches) for the season. His arrival in Oakland likely means unrestricted free agent Doug Martin is done there. Marshawn Lynch isn't expected to decide until after the NFL Draft whether he'll return for another season. RBs Jalen Richard and Chris Warren remain on the roster. HC Jon Gruden has compared Richard to former RB Charlie Garner, which indicates he'll maintain a significant role. Warren spent his rookie season on IR after a flashy preseason. This backfield figures to see further changes before we can project its 2019 touch splits.

Raiders HC Jon Gruden revealed Wednesday that RB Doug Martin has a knee injury and is "uncertain" for this weekend's game against the Steelers. We'll keep an eye on him over the next few days. Oakland just signed RB C.J. Anderson, who would figure to form a committee with Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington if Martin can't go. This is a situation to avoid against a tough Pittsburgh run defense.

Raiders HC Jon Gruden referred to Doug Martin as his "feature back." It sounds like the plan is to slide Martin right into RB Marshawn Lynch's role. Lynch averaged 15 carries over the season's first 6 games. Martin might not reach that territory, but he's the clear favorite for carries in Oakland going forward. RB Jalen Richard will continue to handle pass-catching work.

The Raiders have placed RB Marshawn Lynch (groin) on IR. That knocks him out for at least 8 weeks, meaning Week 16 would be the earliest he could return. Lynch is obviously droppable in all fantasy leagues. The tanking Raiders will move forward with a Doug Martin and Jalen Richard backfield. Neither is more than a RB3, with Martin the better bet in non-PPR and Richard in PPR.

Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch will miss "at least" a month with a groin injury, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Rapoport adds that IR is a "strong possibility," which could cost Lynch 8 weeks. We'd try to keep him stashed for now considering the lack of viable fantasy RBs out there, but Lynch is droppable in shallow-bench leagues. His absence will leave the backfield in the hands of Doug Martin and Jalen Richard. Martin seems like the favorite for carries, with Richard dominating passing-game work. Neither is a particularly exciting fantasy add in a scuffling Raiders offense.

Raiders RB DeAndre Washington has been getting "all" of the 2nd-team reps ahead of Jalen Richard in camp so far, according to insider Vic Tafur. That there's a clear gap between the 2 is surprising after they played a similar number of snaps and saw about the same amount of total touches last year. We're still expecting both guys to be involved behind starter Marshawn Lynch -- and to form a committee if Lynch misses time -- but Washington is the superior late-round target in fantasy drafts.

Multiple outlets report that Oakland and Seattle have worked out a trade that will finally, officially send RB Marshawn Lynch to the Raiders. It will reportedly involve an exchange of late-round picks in 2018 -- basically a formality. We'll see what kind of shape Lynch is in once he takes the field and whether Oakland adds more to its backfield in the NFL Draft this week.

RB Marshawn Lynch visited the Raiders on Wednesday and informed them that he plans to un-retire, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. As soon as that becomes official, the Seahawks will either trade or release Beast Mode (likely the latter considering it's clear that he'll only play for Oakland). It suddenly looks extremely likely that Lynch will be back in the league this season -- and as a lead back. The Raiders currently have just the inexperienced and undersized duo of DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard at RB. It's unclear exactly how much the soon-to-be 31-year-old Lynch has left in the tank, but he'll be running behind 1 of the league's best offensive lines.

The Raiders are trying to coax RB Marshawn Lynch out of retirement, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Lynch is reportedly considering it. His rights still belong to the Seahawks, so he'd either need to be released or traded. "It could really happen," a source told Schefter. Lynch turns 31 in April and averaged just 3.8 yards per carry in 2015, so the Raiders wouldn't be getting prime Beast Mode. But he could certainly provide some power to a backfield that currently features 204-pound DeAndre Washington and 207-pound Jalen Richard. We'll continue to keep an eye on the situation.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) will play against the Jaguars today. It's worth noting that Rapoport calls Murray "the starter." He's the best fantasy bet in Oakland's backfield but will continue to lose touches to RBs DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard.

Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) is expected back for this weekend's game against the Jaguars, according to insider Adam Caplan. Murray has put in a couple of limited practice this week after missing the past 2 games. A healthy Murray figures to resume lead duties in Oakland's backfield, but he'll continue to lose touches to RBs DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard.

Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) returned to practice on Wednesday. It gives him a good shot to return for this weekend's game against the Jaguars. Neither DeAndre Washington nor Jalen Richard distinguished himself in Murray's absence the past 2 weeks, so a healthy Murray should return as the lead back -- albeit of a 3-man committee.

Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. He's still not back at practice and certainly isn't a lock to return for Week 7. Oakland's bye isn't until Week 10. DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard figure to share backfield duties again this Sunday. Both guys are borderline RB2s vs. a Kansas City defense allowing 4.8 yards per carry.

Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) remained sidelined on Wednesday. It's not a good start for his chances to playing against the Chiefs this weekend. Murray is reportedly dealing with turf toe, which often lingers for multiple weeks. RBs DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard split backfield duties last week and would likely do the same this Sunday if Murray sits.

The Raiders plan on distributing carries "evenly" and then riding the "hot hand" in today's game vs. San Diego, according to ESPN's Adam Caplan. RBs DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard will both be involved early. Washington remains the better bet to get rolling, but both guys could end up with 10+ touches. Check out where they sit in our Week 5 RB Rankings.

Raiders RB Latavius Murray (toe) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Chargers. He didn’t practice all week and could be hampered for a while with what’s reportedly a case of turf toe. DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard will lead Oakland’s backfield this weekend, with Jamize Olawale potentially seeing short-yardage work. Washington is the best fantasy play and looks like a low-end RB2 or high-end RB3/flex in the plus matchup.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Raiders RB Latavius Murray is "doubtful" to play against the Chargers on Sunday due to a foot injury suffered last week. Murray "wants to play," per Schefter, but didn't practice on Wednesday. (Oakland listed him with a toe injury, rather than foot.) Murray's absence will leave the Raiders with DeAndre Washington, Jalen Richard and Jamize Olawale. It's unclear at this point how the touches will be divvied. Washington paced that trio with 8 touches last week but actually played fewer snaps than Richard and Olawale. We'll look for clues about this backfield over the next few days, but it might turn out to be a situation to avoid.
