Saints TE Jared Cook (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. At this point, fantasy owners shouldn't count on having him in Week 4 lineups. We'll see if his status changes over the next couple of days.

Saints TE Jared Cook was knocked out of Sunday night's game vs. the Packers with an ankle injury. We'll look for an update on the severity. Rookie TE Adam Trautman played a season-high 52% of the offensive snaps with Cook sidelined, hauling in both of his targets for 17 yards.

The Saints have ruled WR Michael Thomas out for Monday night’s game against the Raiders. That’s been the expected move all week, though there was a bit of optimism Friday. We’ll see whether that means Thomas can make it back from his high-ankle sprain for Week 3. His absence leaves targets for Emmanuel Sanders and crew, and elevates Tre’Quan Smith to a starting role in a positive matchup. We can’t help but downgrade Drew Brees with no Thomas, though, especially after an unspectacular opener

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Saints WR Michael Thomas' high-ankle sprain is "worse than originally believed and he's now expected to miss several weeks." Thomas' absence would push targets toward WR Emmanuel Sanders, TE Jared Cook, WR Tre'Quan Smith and RB Alvin Kamara -- and perhaps motivate the Saints to go more run-heavy. As recently as 2017 and 2018, this offense ranked among the most run-heavy in the league. The next 3 weeks bring matchups with the Raiders, Packers and Lions -- all of whom ranked 16th or worse in Football Outsiders run-defense DVOA last season. Then come the Chargers (25th) and a Week 6 bye. So you should probably prepare the possibility of going without Thomas until Week 7. Thomas' situation also hurts the fantasy outlook for QB Drew Brees, who threw for just 160 yards in the opening win over Tampa.

Saints WR Michael Thomas suffered a high-ankle sprain late in Sunday's win over the Bucs, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. "It’s something he believes he can play through," Pelissero adds. "With an extra day before next Monday’s game vs. Raiders, nobody ruling Thomas out." It sounds like this is a relatively minor high-ankle sprain, but it's still worrisome. Just last year, we saw this injury derail Alvin Kamara and Saquon Barkley's seasons. We'll obviously keep a close eye on Thomas' status this coming week. His absence would be a big blow to QB Drew Brees, while opening up a ton of opportunity for Kamara, TE Jared Cook and WRs Emmanuel Sanders and Tre'Quan Smith.

Saints TE Jared Cook (concussion) isn't listed on the final injury report after putting in full practices on Friday and Saturday. He's averaged 71 yards and .8 TDs over his last 5 games and is a TE1 with upside for Monday night's game against the Colts.

Saints TE Jared Cook (concussion) graduated to a full practice on Friday. That seemingly puts him on track to be cleared for Monday night's game against the Colts. We'll get another update on Cook's status tomorrow.

Saints TE Jared Cook (concussion) got in a limited practice on Thursday. He has an extra day to get cleared for Monday night's game against the Colts, but consider Cook no better than 50/50 for that one. Josh Hill will serve as New Orleans' lead pass-catching TE if Cook is out.

Saints TE Jared Cook exited in the 1st quarter of Sunday's game against the 49ers to get checked for a concussion. He took a shot to the head on a 26-yard TD -- his 2nd score of the game. We'll update Cook's status when we know more.

Update: Cook has been diagnosed with a concussion and been ruled out.

Saints TE Jared Cook (ankle) was a full-go in practice all week and will play against the Falcons this weekend. Cook will step back in as New Orleans’ lead pass-catching TE and boasts lots of TD upside with the Saints sporting a huge 32.5-point implied total.

Saints RB Jared Coof (ankle) was a full-go in Wednesday's practice, putting him on track to return for this weekend's game against the Falcons. Atlanta actually ranks 14th in adjusted fantasy points allowed to TEs, but Cook still brings exciting upside in Week 10 fantasy lineups with the Saints sporting a huge 32-point implied total.

Saints TE Jared Cook (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game against the Cardinals. We’ll see if he can return after the Week 9 bye. With Cook sidelined last week, TE Josh Hill ran 19 routes and TE Dan Arnold 14. It’s a situation to avoid, despite the plus matchup.

Saints TE Jared Cook (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday. At this point, fantasy owners can't bank on him returning for this weekend's game against the Cardinals. We'll update his status again tomorrow.

Saints TE Jared Cook (ankle) is out for Sunday’s game against the Bears. That leaves Josh Hill as New Orleans’ lead TE — but he’d be a desperation fantasy play.

Saints TE Jared Cook (ankle) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. It's worth noting that he played a season-low 58% of the offensive snaps last week, so perhaps that ankle was an issue. Fantasy owners hoping to use Cook need to have a backup plan in place. We'll update his status tomorrow.

Saints TE Jared Cook has been better than the team expected, according to ESPN's Mike Triplett. HC Sean Payton has praised Cook's hands, catch radius, yards-after-catch ability and work ethic. “Anytime you’re in free agency, you gather as much information as you can. And then when the player arrives, there’s certain things you weren’t aware of that are good and maybe sometimes weren’t so good. In his case, it’s all positive,” Payton said. “He’s a tremendous worker, dedicated, I think someone who’s a true pro in every sense of the word. And I think he’s been a really good addition for us.” TEs coach Dan Campbell added that Cook and QB Drew Brees have quickly built a strong rapport. With question marks at WR behind Michael Thomas, there's room for Cook to finish 3rd on the 2019 Saints in targets (behind Thomas and RB Alvin Kamara).

The Saints are set to sign TE Jared Cook, according to NFL Network. No word yet on the terms of the deal. Cook is coming off the most productive season of his career, posting a 68-896-6 line in Oakland and finishing 5th among TEs in PPR points. He might not see another 101 targets this year behind target hog Michael Thomas in what's become a run-heavy Saints offense. But Cook could be even more efficient with his targets going from Derek Carr to Drew Brees. He looks like a rock-solid TE1 with top-5 upside.

Raiders TE Jared Cook has been seeing a lot of targets from QB Derek Carr in training camp, according to insider Vic Tafur. “When you add a guy like Jared Cook that runs a 4.3 or a 4.4 and he can outrun DBs on go-routes, (you) can throw him out wide and run different kinds of routes with him,” Carr said. “We can do that kind of stuff because he is that talented.” Cook has mostly disappointed through 8 NFL seasons, but he reminded us of his upside with 18 catches for 229 yards and 2 TDs in 3 playoff games with the Packers last year. Cook can't be trusted as a TE1 but is a fine flier at his 18th-round ADP.

The Raiders have signed TE Jared Cook, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Cook has largely been a disappointment through his 8-year career, but he came up big for the Packers late last season and in the playoffs, totaling 31 catches, 408 yards and 2 TDs. He joins an Oakland offense that could use a 3rd option in the passing game behind WRs Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. Raiders TEs combined for 83 targets last year -- a number Cook should hit by himself in 2017. He'll be an intriguing TE2 targets in fantasy drafts this summer. TE Clive Walford's arrow is pointing down after a disappointing sophomore season.
