NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that the Raiders are releasing S Johnathan Abram. It's a surprising move, given that Abram has just a half-season left on his rookie contract. The former 1st-round pick has been rumored to be on the trading block since at least this past offseason. He remained a starter through the first 6 games of this season. That playing time fell off the past 2 games, though. Abram will now be free to find a new team, while the Raiders move forward with Duron Harmon and Trevon Moehrig as the starters.

Raiders LB Divine Deablo (back, ankle) and S Johnathan Abram (illness) are active for today's game against the Saints. Deablo carries some risk after barely practicing this week, but both are in play for IDP use.

Raiders S Johnathan Abram (illness) and LB Divine Deablo (back, ankle) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints. Abram put in limited practices Thursday and Friday after sitting out Wednesday. Deablo managed only a limited Friday and doesn't look like a great bet for fantasy football lineups. Denzel Perryman would likely lead LB playing time for the Raiders if Deablo can't go. LB Jason Brown is also ready to return after missing last week with a hamstring injury.

The Raiders have declined the 5th-year option on the rookie contracts of both S Johnathan Abram and DE Clelin Ferrell. The decision on Ferrell is certainly no surprise, given that the former #4 overall pick played his way out of the starting lineup. Abram has fared better, and perhaps he's a candidate to re-sign with a good 2022. But the fact that Vegas declined the options on all 3 first-rounders from that 1st draft of the Mike Mayock era underscores that the team has new leadership. If Abram does hit the open market after the coming season, we'd bet on him landing at least an opportunity to fight for a starting job elsewhere -- barring a poor final performance with the Raiders, of course.

The Raiders have placed S Johnathan Abram on IR for his season-ending left shoulder injury that will require surgery. Dallin Leavitt made his 1st NFL start in Abram's place Sunday against the Broncos, collecting just a single assist. The Raiders have also activated CB Nate Hobbs from the COVID list. His role could increase this week, depending on who else does or doesn't make it back from the COVID list in the Vegas secondary.

Raiders S Johnathan Abram left Monday night's game at Cleveland in the 2nd half with a shoulder injury. He's officially questionable to return.

The Raiders have ruled out defensive starters S Johnathan Abram (concussion), LB Nicholas Morrow (concussion), DE Clelin Ferrell (shoulder) and CB Damon Arnette (concussion, neck) for Thursday night’s game against the Chargers. That obviously enhances an already favorable matchup for a struggling Chargers offense. We’ll see if Anthony Lynn & Co. allow Justin Herbert’s crew to take advantage

The Raiders could be without DE Clelin Ferrell, LB Nicholas Morrow and S Johnathan Abram when they play the Chargers on Thursday night. Morrow and Abram each left in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game with concussions. HC Jon Gruden said Monday they're in the concussion protocol. The short turnaround for Week 15 makes them unlikely to be ready. Ferrell left in the 1st quarter with a left-shoulder injury. Gruden also said it will be "tough" for Ferrell to make it back for Thursday night, according to SB Nation's Bill Williamson. We'll keep an eye on their statuses, but plan to have none of the 3 available for IDP use. Ferrell's absence would likely mean starter-level snaps for Arden Key, after DE Carl Nassib was a healthy scratch the past 2 weeks. Morrow's absence should mean a playing-time boost for disappointing LB Cory Littleton. Dallin Leavitt looks like the fill-in for Abram, with Jeff Heath's concussion having landed him on IR Saturday. The Raiders also might continue to miss starting CB Damon Arnette (concussion).

Raiders S Johnathan Abram (knee) is active for today's game against the Colts. He arrived questionable but is ready for IDP use.

The Raiders have ruled S Jeff Heath (concussion) out for Sunday's game against the Colts. S Johnathan Abram (knee) is questionable. He managed limited practices all week after missing last Sunday's game. We'll see about his status Sunday.

The Raiders have ruled S Johnathan Abram (knee) out for Sunday's game against the Jets. That likely puts Erik Harris into the starting lineup next to Jeff Heath.

The Raiders have placed S Johnathan Abram on the COVID list. That doesn't necessarily mean the starting safety will miss Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. But it does mean you should make other plans. We already had Abram well down our Week 7 DB rankings anyway. If Abram can't go, then it looks like S Jeff Heath would step in.

Jets WR Breshad Perriman (ankle) is expected to play against the Dolphins today, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. It'll be Perriman's first action since Week 2. We'll see how big a role he plays, but he's certainly not a Week 6 fantasy option.

Raiders S Jonathan Abram (shoulder, thumb) is active for today’s game against the Bills. He carries high tackle upside against a pass-heavy Buffalo offense.

Raiders LB Nick Kwiatkoski (pectoral) and S Jonathan Abram (shoulder, thumb) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills. Kwiatkoski -- who has been out since straining a pectoral muscle early in the season opener -- graduated to full practice Friday and looks on track to play. Abram put in limited workouts all week, but Raiders Wire reports that Abram "appears likely to play" as well. Both are IDP options if in the lineup. Holding off on Kwiatkoski for another week would be OK, though, as Buffalo has been a negative scoring matchup for fantasy LBs.

The Raiders spent their 3rd pick of the NFL Draft's 1st round on S Johnathan Abram. The DB tallied 99 tackles (53 solo), 9 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and 2 INTs in his final season at Mississippi State. Abram brings a versatile skill set to an Oakland secondary in need of help. Abram's ability plus the opportunity gives him a nice fantasy outlook -- both immediately and long term.
