The league has denied the appeal of Buccaneers MLB Kwon Alexander for his PED suspension, according to the Tampa Tribune. That means the rookie will miss the final 4 games of the regular season and be eligible to play again this year only if the Bucs make the playoffs. That's a shame for Tampa and IDP owners, as Alexander had turned into a top-10 producer among fantasy LBs. HC Lovie Smith hasn't indicated whether Bruce Carter or Danny Lansanah will replace Alexander in the middle. We'd bet on Lansanah playing in passing sub packages (alongside Lavonte David) over Carter either way, though, making him the better fantasy pickup in deeper IDP leagues.

Update: Alexander actually dropped his appeal.

The league has yet to rule on Buccaneers MLB Kwon Alexander's appeal of a 4-game PED suspension. That means he'll play today against the Falcons. We've got him safely inside the top 10 of our Week 13 LB rankings.

Buccaneers MLB Kwon Alexander told the Tampa Tribune that he's appealing the 4-game PED suspension that the league will hand down today. But he also acknowledged responsibility for the violation, attributing it to an energy drink that he has consumed since high school. “It’s my fault,’’ Alexander said. “It’s very disappointing, and I’m just disappointed in myself because all [our coaches] keep saying, ‘If you’re going to drink something, ask somebody first.’ So I hold myself accountable.’’ We'll see where the appeal goes, but IDP owners should plan on not having the emerging rookie for the next month.

Per multiple reports, Buccaneers MLB Kwon Alexander will face a 4-game suspension for PED use after this week's game against the Eagles. The suspension is expected to be officially handed down Monday, which is why Alexander remained available for Week 11. It's an unfortunate development for a rookie who has stepped up as an IDP option in recent weeks. OLB Danny Lansanah could factor into the replacement plan. He played well in the middle last year and saw 3-down duty when then-starter Mason Foster got hurt.

Bucs rookie LB Kwon Alexander lined up at MLB with the 1st team in Monday's practice, in place of free-agent addition Bruce Carter. That came after HC Lovie Smith praised the rookie for his performance in the preseason opener vs. Minnesota. “We knew about the athletic ability, but the thing that’s impressed us from the day we got Kwon is his smarts,’’ DC Leslie Frazier told the Tampa Tribune. “He works so hard in the classroom and he’s able to bring it out to the field.’’ Don't be surprised if this sticks. Carter disappointed repeatedly as an OLB in Dallas, so we never believed in him as Tampa's answer in the middle. We'll see if Alexander can prove to be a 3-down player. Strong-side starter Danny Lansanah -- who played well in the middle, including coverage, when Mason Foster got hurt last year -- continues to look like a good bet for full-time duty. Both will be interesting to watch for your IDP league.
