Giants 4th-round S Dane Belton "got the majority of the reps with the first team" in Thursday's OTA session, according to Zack Rosenblatt of Belton reportedly played alongside safeties Xavier McKinney and Julian Love, as well as in place of 1 of them at times. Rosenblatt adds that Belton "will seriously push" Love for the starting job opposite McKinney (a former 2nd-round pick). Belton didn't post big numbers across 3 seasons at Iowa but did close his career with 5 INTs in 2021. McKinney's the only 1 we'd bet on in IDP drafts right now, but we'll see how the rest of this competition goes. The Giants released Logan Ryan after deploying him as a full-time player last season.

The Giants have released CB James Bradberry, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. This has been an anticipated move for the cap-strapped franchise, which clearly failed to find a trading partner for the high-priced corner. Bradberry -- who will turn 29 in August -- will land somewhere, though, likely with at least a chance to compete for a starting role.

The Giants selected EDGE Kayvon Thibodeaux with the 5th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Thibodeaux averaged a class-leading 1.18 tackles for loss per game over 3 seasons at Oregon, averaging more than 1 per game each year. He never cracked 10 sacks in a season but certainly sports that kind of upside. A 90th-percentile speed score in pre-draft testing supports that. We'll see whether Thibodeaux carries a LB or DE designation. There's an especially nice ceiling if your format combines all edge players into a single category.

Giants CB Adoree' Jackson (quad) and DT Austin Johnson (foot) are active for today's game against the Bears. Neither carries big IDP intrigue for Week 17 lineups, though.

Giants DL Austin Johnson (foot) is active for today's game against the Eagles.

Giants DL Leonard Williams (triceps) and Austin Johnson (foot) are active for today's game against the Cowboys. Both starters entered the day questionable. Johnson looks iffier than Williams, as he managed only 1 limited practice this week on his injured foot.

Giants D-linemen Austin Johnson (foot) and Leonard Williams (triceps) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. Johnson put in just a limited Friday practice after missing the 1st 2 days. He's coming off a season-high snap share in the loss to the Chargers. We'll see about Johnson's status Sunday. Williams managed limited practices all week, despite initial reports that the Giants feared his season might be over. Losing either player would further ding an already weak run defense and shaky pass rush.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Giants DE Leonard Williams is "going to miss time" with an elbow injury "feared to be significant." We'll see about the official diagnosis. With just 4 weeks left in the regular season, an IR trip would effectively end Williams' year.

Giants DE Leonard Williams left Sunday's loss to the Chargers with a right elbow injury. We'll see about his status heading into next Sunday's home date with Dallas.

Giants HC Joe Judge said Friday that S Logan Ryan will likely miss a 2nd straight game on the COVID list. It sounded like there was still a slight chance Ryan might be able to get in the 2 negative tests needed to make him eligible to return, but Judge conceded that the Giants are planning to not have Ryan available. S Julian Love played every snap against the Bucs in Ryan's absence.

Giants HC Joe Judge confirmed Friday that S Logan Ryan has tested positive for COVID. The team was awaiting 1 more test to confirm that, according to ESPN's Jordan Ranaan, but they don't believe it to be a false positive. That would knock Ryan out for Monday night's game against the Buccaneers. Julian Love seems the likeliest replacement should Ryan sit.

The Giants announced Tuesday that S Jabrill Peppers will miss the rest of the season after rupturing the ACL in his right knee. Peppers also suffered a high-ankle sprain. The 26-year-old is set to hit free agency in March, so we'll see what 2022 holds for him.

Giants LB Tae Crowder (thigh) is active for today's game against the Panthers. The injury gives him some risk, but Crowder remains the top play among Giants ILBs.

The Giants added LB Tae Crowder to the injury report Saturday, listing him as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers with a thigh injury. The team also elevated LB Benardrick McKinney from the practice squad. We'll check Crowder's status Sunday morning when the inactives come out. If he's out, Reggie Ragland would likely lead Giants ILBs in playing time.

The Giants have ruled S Jabrill Peppers out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. He suffered a hamstring injury in the Week 4 win over the Saints that kept him from practicing this week. His absence can only help the tackle upside for fellow Giants DBs Logan Ryan and Xavier McKinney.

Giants S Jabrill Peppers left Sunday's game against the Saints with a hamstring injury. Despite having already been ruled out for the game, Peppers went out for the coin toss to begin overtime. We'll see about his outlook for Week 5 and beyond, but Peppers had already seen his playing time dip to a level that made him tough to play in IDP lineups.

Giants ILB Tae Crowder (hamstring) is active for today's game against the Falcons. He arrived questionable but is in play for IDP lineups as the Giants' new top off-ball LB after Blake Martinez's ACL tear.

Giants ILB Tae Crowder is questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints. He appeared on the injury report Thursday with a hamstring issue that limited him in practice. Crowder managed another limited practice Friday, which is obviously a better sign than if he had sat out. We'll check his status Sunday morning, barring any change up or down before then.
