The Dolphins have downgraded QB Tua Tagovailoa from questionable to doubtful for Sunday's game against the Jets. He hurt his left (throwing) thumb in practice this week. His likely absence will push Ryan Fitzpatrick into the starting lineup. He's a more intriguing fantasy option in the high-upside matchup with the Jets than the rookie QB was.

Dolphins QB Tua Tagavailoa (thumb) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Jets. This injury is to his throwing thumb. HC Brian Flores wouldn’t say on Friday whether Tua will be able to play this weekend. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will draw back in if the rookie is out.

Dolphins QB Tua Tagavailoa has been limited in practice this week with an injury to his left (throwing) thumb. "He’s getting treatment, rehabbing, we’ll see how this goes," HC Brian Flores said. "It’s sore. but he’s a tough kid. He’s played through some stuff before ... We’re going to take this one day at a time. .... We all have to be ready to be adjust and be flexible and have contingency plans." QB Ryan Fitzpatrick would draw back in for Miami against the Jets on Sunday if Tagovailoa can't go.

Dolphins HC Brian Flores said after Sunday's loss in Denver that QB Tua Tagovailoa remains his starter. Flores also confirmed that the rookie was benched for performance, rather than injury. We'll see if he changes his mind after watching the film. To our eyes, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick clearly gives Miami a better chance to win right now.

Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa was benched in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game in Denver. He went 11 of 20 for 83 yards, 1 TD and took 6 sacks. We'll see how QB Ryan Fitzpatrick fares in Tua's place and then who the Fins go with in Week 12.

The Dolphins will turn to QB Tua Tagovailoa coming out of their Week 7 bye, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. It's a somewhat surprising move for a 3-3 team that's gotten reasonably solid QB play from Ryan Fitzpatrick so far. Tua got onto the field in garbage time of last week's win over the Jets, completing both of his passes for 9 yards. The 1st-round rookie has a higher ceiling than Fitzpatrick -- but a lower floor at this point of his career. He also doesn't bring Fitzpatrick's rushing ability and will be just a low-end QB2 in fantasy for now.

The 49ers have ruled CB Emmanuel Moseley (concussion), CB Dontae Johnson (groin) and CB K'Waun Williams (knee, hip) out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. CB Ahkello Witherspoon (hamstring) is also questionable. He missed last week's game against the Eagles but managed limited workouts this week. We'll check on Witherspoon's status Sunday, though he's not much of an IDP factor either way. The big takeaway here is that the Niners will miss at least 4 of their top 6 corners -- with Richard Sherman still on IR. That can only help Miami QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, WR DeVante Parker and TE Mike Gesicki.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Dolphins have officially named QB Ryan Fitzpatrick the Week 1 starter. Rookie Tua Tagovailoa reportedly showed flashes of what's to come during training camp, but it makes sense to ease him in after the hip injury that ended his college career prematurely. Fitzpatrick posted a big outing at New England late last season, but we'd rather not use him at the Patriots in Week 1 of this year.

The Athletic's Josh Tolentino and the South Florida Sun-Sentinel's Omar Kelly both said Tuesday that Ryan Fitzpatrick is the clear favorite to open the season as Miami's starting QB. The team is seemingly taking it slow with rookie QB Tua Tagovailoa, who's returning from a serious hip injury. "The former Alabama standout is also typically playing with the second and third team talent," Kelly writes. "Give him some time to get adjusted before you expect him to push for a starting spot." We always expected to see Fitzpatrick under center Week 1 -- but Tua still figures to take over at some point this season.

Dolphins HC Brian Flores said Wednesday that QB Tua Tagovailoa (hip) won't be limited for the start of training camp. Tagovailoa declared himself "ready to go" last week -- but it's still encouraging that the team agrees. Flores also refused to name a starting QB on Wednesday, declaring it an open competition between the rookie and veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa declared himself "ready to go" for the start of training camp next week. He spent the offseason rehabbing a serious right hip injury suffered in mid-November. We'll see exactly how much he's able to do when the Fins get on the field. We'd still consider veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick the favorite to be under center come Week 1 -- but Tua figures to take over at some point this season.

Dolphins GM Chris Grier "fully expects" QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to be back for 2020. He's due a reasonable $8 million, so it makes plenty of sense to bring him back even if he doesn't start all year. Miami is a strong bet to select a QB in the 1st round of this spring's draft, but Fitzpatrick could certainly open the season under center. He exceed expectations in 2019 and ranked 17th at his position in fantasy points per game.

The forecast for today's Bengals-Dolphins game calls for sustained winds of 15-20 mph with gusts up to 30. That's enough to impact the passing and kicking games. Check the updated projections for all the guys in this game.

The forecast for today's Dolphins-Giants game calls for sustained winds of 20 mph with gusts of 25+. That's enough to impact the deep-passing and kicking games. Give slight downgrades to the QBs and Ks in this game. And the downfield prowess of WRs like DeVante Parker and Darius Slayton figures to be compromised.

Dolphins QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will start this weekend's game against the Bills, HC Brian Flores announced Wednesday. Why? Couldn't tell ya. Fitzpatrick isn't an option in any fantasy league in an impossible spot in Buffalo vs. the league's 4th-ranked QB defense.
