The Jets have placed WR Eric Decker on IR, and he will have season-ending shoulder surgery, Pro Football Talk reports. That will obviously keep WR Quincy Enunwa prominently involved in the pass offense, which has already provided him 7+ targets and 4+ catches every week. He sits in WR3 territory across fantasy formats. Decker's absence also likely solidifies Brandon Marshall's WR1 status. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick gets a fantasy downgrade going forward, though he had already provided that with his play in recent weeks. Decker will be 30 in March, so his dynasty outlook certainly isn't trending in the right direction. We wouldn't bet on you being able to sell him for good value in such a format at this point, though.

"It certainly could be within the realm of possibility that we have to see not just a little bit of Geno Smith, like maybe a couple reps in OTAs or minicamp, but a lot of Geno Smith, maybe even into preseason games, for there to be some sort of movement here between the Jets and Fitzpatrick," Rapoport said. While Fitzpatrick returning to New York remains the most likely scenario, it's far from a guarantee. Perhaps OC Chan Gailey believes his offense will be just fine with Smith under center.

Cimini didn't have the details on the full contract amount or the total guaranteed money, but that number checks in higher than the $8 million that had previously been reported. The timing of this leak coincides with WR Eric Decker skipping OTA workouts to voice his displeasure over Fitzpatrick not getting a new deal yet. WR Brandon Marshall also missed practices, though his motivation isn't yet clear. The leak also indicates that the Jets feel pretty good about their offer, while Cimini reports that Fitz is "thought to be" seeking $15 million per year. It's still a little early for either side to suffer from a sense of urgency. We'd bet on Fitzpatrick re-signing, but we obviously can't count on it at this point. Fitz is a risky pick in current drafts, while his situation adds risk to other Jets pass-catchers as well.

Jets WR Eric Decker is skipping OTAs this week because he's upset the team has yet to re-sign QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, according to insider Brian Costello.  New York's QB depth chart currently includes Geno Smith, Bryce Petty and rookie Christian Hackenberg.  We ultimately expect Fitzpatrick to return, but the contract negotiations are costing the offense valuable offseason reps.

The Jets selected QB Christian Hackenberg with the 51st pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. Hackenberg looked like a potential future #1 overall pick after completing 58.9% of his passes with 20 TDs and 10 INTs as a true freshman in 2013. But his play fell off a cliff the past 2 seasons, with a 54.8% completion rate, 28 TDs and 21 INTs. Hackenberg has prototypical size (6’4, 223 pounds) and plenty of arm strength. But his inconsistent accuracy is a major concern. The Jets obviously see them as their QB of the future but the plan is to start him off on the bench, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. We’ll see if New York can reach a contract agreement with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.
