The Texans have dealt QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to the Jets in exchange for a late-round conditional pick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.  Houston will move forward with Ryan Mallett, Brian Hoyer and Tom Savage at QB.  Fitzpatrick, meanwhile, will battle Geno Smith (and possibly a rookie) for the Jets' starting job.  The winner will have sneaky fantasy upside in OC Chan Gailey's spread offense and with WRs Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker.

Insider Dianna Marie Russini hears that QB Brian Hoyer will sign with the Texans.  He'll be reuniting with HC Bill O'Brien, who was Hoyer's QBs coach and OC from 2009-2011.  Houston will have Hoyer, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Tom Savage under contract.  They're also reportedly close to re-signing Ryan Mallett.  The group will stage a competition for the starting job this summer, but the winner won't be more than a low-end QB2 in a run-first offense.

Texans QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is done for the season with a broken leg suffered in Sunday's game against the Colts. He was replaced by QB Tom Savage, who injured his knee near the end of the contest. He’s scheduled for an MRI on Monday. If Savage can’t play next week, Houston would be left with QB Thad Lewis. Regardless of which guy is under center, it's a concern for WRs DeAndre Hopkins and Andre Johnson. Expect tons of RB Arian Foster against the Ravens and Jaguars.

Texans QB Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered a lower left leg injury in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game against the Colts.  He was carted off the field, so his day is almost certainly over.  QB Tom Savage is in the game for Houston.

Texans QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to start Sunday's game against the Titans, according to insider John McClain.  Rookie QB Tom Savage reportedly won't get a shot until Houston is eliminated from playoff contention.  Fitzpatrick's 18 standard-scoring fantasy-point average ranks just 26th among QBs.  The Texans' run-heavy offense will keep him buried in QB2 territory.

Texans HC Bill O'Brien refused to commit to QB Ryan Fitzpatrick as his starter after Sunday's loss to the Eagles.  "We have to look at everything, including quarterback," O'Brien said.  Houston has a Week 10 bye to evaluate the QB situation.  Fitzpatrick has been decent this year, completing 61.8% of his passes with 11 TDs and 8 INTs.  But Houston might want to get a look at QB Ryan Mallet over the 2nd half of the season.  We'll continue to keep an eye on the situation, but whoever is under center for the Texans won't be more than a QB2 in fantasy football.

Texans QB Ryan Fitzpatrick got off to a rough start with his new team, completing just 6 of 14 passes and tossing 2 INTs in Saturday's preseason opener against Arizona.  It's worth noting that Houston played without RB Arian Foster and WR Andre Johnson -- and that Arizona has ranked among the league's top defenses over the past 2 years.  But fantasy owners also know that Fitzpatrick is capable of these games a bit too often.  That's why he stands as more of a matchup target for QB streaming than a draft-day target for your team.

Texans HC Bill O'Brien has named Ryan Fitzpatrick his starting QB.  The Harvard product was always the heavy favorite to land the gig by default.  4th-round rookie QB Tom Savage isn't ready for the big leagues, and QBs Case Keenum and T.J. Yates simply aren't NFL-caliber players.  Fitzpatrick has at least proven capable of keeping an offense afloat.  And his rushing ability gives him added fantasy value.  But Houston figures to deploy a run-heavy offense this year.  And the pass-catching corps remains questionable, especially with WR Andre Johnson's contract squabble.  Fitzpatrick could turn into a bye-week option, but we wouldn't bother drafting him in standard fantasy football leagues.

HC Bill O’Brien called the Texans’ QB competition “wide open.”  The team opened OTAs on Tuesday with QBs Ryan Fitzpatrick, Case Keenum, T.J. Yates and rookie Tom Savage in attendance.  Houston signed Fitz to a 2-year deal worth $7.5 million ($4 mil guaranteed) in March, so he’s considered the favorite.  But he’s by no means a lock to open the season under center.  And while it’s unlikely, there’s still a chance that Houston pulls off a trade for Ryan Mallett.  Regardless of who starts this season, they’ll struggle to escape QB2 range in fantasy.

The Texans finally added a rookie QB, selecting Tom Savage in the 4th round of the draft.  Savage started his career at Rutgers, transferred to Arizona but never played a game there, and then finished his college career at Pittsburgh.  Savage made just 31 starts in total and went more than 1,000 days between games from 2010 to 2013.  This guy looks the part at 6'4 and 228 pounds, though.  He has plenty of arm strength, good accuracy and doesn't wilt under pressure.  Savage is an intriguing project for HC Bill O'Brien, but he's not ready to start this season.  It's looking more and more like QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will be under center for Houston come Week 1.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Texans have reached a deal with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.  He ranked 17th in fantasy points per game as a Titan last season while starting 9 games and playing in 2 others.  That included 5 games of 20+ points.  Fitzpatrick also delivered plenty of starter-worthy weeks in Buffalo.  He won't be a target in fantasy football drafts this summer, but he's capable of useful numbers if Houston opens the season with Fitz under center.  Look for the veteran to provide a cushion in case the Texans don't land a rookie ready to start right away.

The Titans have released QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.  He was replaced by Charlie Whitehurst, who isn't as good a QB as Fitzpatrick but knows HC Ken Whisenhunt's offense.  Fitz showed well in 11 appearances last year, completing a career-high 62% of his passes with 14 TDs and 12 INTs.  He's not an ideal NFL starter but is a high-quality backup.  It shouldn't take him long to find a new home.  Perhaps the Bills will be interested in bringing him back to push QB E.J. Manuel.

The Titans have signed QB Ryan Fitzpatrick to a 2-year deal.  Fitzpatrick certainly had his shortcomings as the starter in Buffalo, but he's a solid backup to Jake Locker.  Fitzpatrick could prove particularly important if Locker has any issues with his repaired shoulder.

The Bills have released QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.  He never seemed to be part of new HC Doug Marrone's plans.  But this is a real shot to Fitzpatrick's gut because they Bills will only save a half-million against the cap with the move.  Fitz will still carry a $10 million charge.  Tarvaris Jackson now sits atop Buffalo's QB depth chart.  They're almost certain to address the position in the draft, maybe with the 8th overall pick.  Meanwhile, Fitzpatrick will make plenty of sense for teams with iffy QB situations such as Arizona, the Jets, Jacksonville and Cleveland.  He went 23-15, 24-23 and 24-16 in TD-INT over the past 3 seasons.

The Bills have announced that they re-signed Tarvaris Jackson and that he'll have an open competition with Ryan Fitzpatrick for the starting job. That should certainly solve any QB issues holding Buffalo down. On the other hand, the city can get pretty cold. Maybe it just takes 2 guys to keep the seat warm for Ryan Nassib.

The Bills have fired HC Chan Gailey.  While his spread offense squeezed as much as possible out of QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, Buffalo won just 16 games in Gailey's 3 seasons at the helm.  His departure is excellent news for RB C.J. Spiller, who was criminally under-utilized by Gailey.
