Asked about DE Nick Bosa on Tuesday, 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said, "We fully expect him to be ready for training camp." Bosa tore his left ACL in Week 2, but it sounds like rehab has gone well. This is his 2nd time going through the process -- the 1st came back in high school -- and Shanahan spoke highly of Bosa's setup (away from the team). Shanahan also this week related Bosa's impact on the defense to those of Aaron Donald and Von Miller to their respective teams. So it's clear the coach is excited to get his defensive playmaker back. We'll certainly keep an eye on the potential top-5 IDP lineman throughout the summer.
The 49ers will go without DT Javon Kinlaw (knee), CB Richard Sherman (calf) and slot CB K'Waun Williams -- to go with the earlier report on LB Dre Greenlaw (calf) -- for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. In addition, S Tarvarius Moore and CB Emmanuel Moseley are questionable. We'll check on their statuses Sunday when the inactives come out (around 3 p.m. ET).
The 49ers have ruled LB Dre Greenlaw (calf) out for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. Azeez Al-Shaair looks like his playing-time replacement. No other Niners LB behind Al-Shaair, Greenlaw and Fred Warner has played more than 28 snaps on the season.
Niners LB Fred Warner (neck, shoulder) and CB Emmanuel Moseley (hamstring) are active for today's game against the Cowboys. Starting outside CB Jason Verrett is a surprise inactive, though, after coming down with an illness. Verrett's absence improves the matchup for Cowboys WRs Michael Gallup and Amari Cooper, who spend most of their time outside.
Niners LB Fred Warner (stinger) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. He made it back to full practice participation Friday, though. We'll check Warner's status Sunday morning when the inactives come out. CB Emmanuel Moseley (hamstring) is questionable for the game as well. Like Warner, though, he progressed from 2 limited practices to a full Friday. Moseley missed the past 2 games but seems to be trending toward a return. Moseley has been a low-level IDP option most of the year.
Niners LB Fred Warner left Sunday's loss to Washington in the 3rd quarter. He passed a concussion check, but HC Kyle Shanahan said after the game that Warner sustained a stinger in the neck-shoulder area. We'll see whether that threatens Warner's Week 15 availability.
Niners CB Emmanuel Moseley (hamstring) is questionable for Monday night's game against the Bills. We'll confirm his status when those inactives come out, but the situation probably doesn't make him worth waiting for and trusting in your IDP lineup.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw (illness) is active for today's game against the Rams. Use him as you normally would in IDP leagues.
Niners LB Dre Greenlaw is questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams. Greenlaw missed practice Thursday and Friday with an illness. We'll check his status Sunday.
The 49ers on Wednesday received a positive COVID test and immediately closed team facilities. That's particularly noteworthy because it comes a day before San Francisco is scheduled to host the Packers on Thursday night football. We'll see whether this situation alters the timing of the game. If the NFL pushes the game to later in the weekend or Monday night, then Packers RB Jamaal Williams might have time to return from isolation. If the game remains on Thursday night, Williams will miss it because of close contact with RB AJ Dillon, who tested positive for COVID at the beginning of the week. More time also might help Aaron Jones move beyond his calf strain to play after missing the past 2 games. Stay tuned.
The 49ers are trading LB Kwon Alexander to the Saints for LB Kiko Alonso and a conditional 5th-round pick, according to multiple reports. Alexander has missed the past 2 games with a high-ankle sprain but should be back soon. San Francisco HC Kyle Shanahan said originally that the team believed it to be a "minor" sprain. Alexander should join Demario Davis in playing full-time snaps, likely sapping playing time from LB Alex Anzalone. We'll keep an eye on Alexander to see when he'll officially jump into the lineup. A healthy Alexander enhances the upside of the New Orleans team defense. The Niners, meanwhile, can now keep LB Dre Greenlaw in his full-time role alongside Fred Warner. He has seen increased playing time with Alexander out.
Niners S Jimmie Ward (quad) is active for today's game against the Seahawks. He'll take his position back from Tarvarius Moore and carries upside against pass-heavy Seattle.
The 49ers have deemed S Jaquiski Tartt (groin) and LB Kwon Alexander (ankle) doubtful for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. That should keep S Marcell Harris and LB Dre Greenlaw in full-time roles and in play for IDP lineups. S Jimmie Ward (quad) is questionable after missing last week's game. If Ward can't go, then Tarvarius Moore would get another start. We'll check his status Sunday.
