Shark Bites

Colts LB Darius Leonard (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. He practiced every day this week, including a full workout Friday. So we'd bet on Leonard playing, especially after he played through a questionable tag last week after less practice participation. It also seems pretty clear that he's operating at less than 100%, though.

Recent Shark Bites

Colts LB Darius Leonard had back surgery Tuesday morning, his agent confirmed. Zak Keefer of The Athletic reports that Leonard will miss "some camp time" but is expected to be ready for the regular season. ESPN's Mike Wells reports it a little differently, saying the team expects "him to [be] back for training camp." We'll see about Leonard's status as camp gets going. At the least, this adds a complication for a star player who has already been dealing with nagging ankle trouble.

Colts LB Darius Leonard has been on the sideline at OTA practices this week because of lingering ankle issues, according to multiple reports. HC Frank Reich said: “Sometimes when you are going through something you hit a lull and can’t get over that hump. Sometimes you have to pause and say, ‘Why are we not getting over this hump?’ That’s a little bit what it is with Darius. We are just continuing to be cautious with him.” They're reportedly not yet considering another surgery on the left ankle, on which Leonard had surgery last June. Leonard missed only 1 game last season, and that for a stint on the COVID list. We'll see where this goes.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that NFL stat corrections have awarded a forced fumble and an assisted tackle on top of the Week 17 stars for Colts LB Darius Leonard. That could be a pretty significant points addition, which will vary quite a bit between scoring formats. If Leonard played on either team in your league’s title game, the check your scores

The Colts have activated LB Darius Leonard and S Khari Willis off the COVID list, leaving them eligible to face the Raiders on Sunday.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Colts LB Darius Leonard tested positive for COVID and is unvaccinated. That means he'll not only miss tonight's game against the Cardinals, but also Week 17. That makes Leonard droppable in most redraft IDP leagues. E.J. Speed sits behind him on the depth chart. We'd try to find a sturdier fantasy option for the final 2 weeks of the fantasy season, though.
