Eagles Edge Haason Reddick is having surgery to address a thumb injury he sustained in Monday's practice. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says, "This is all so that he is ready for the start of the season." Perhaps Reddick opens the year at a little less than full strength. But it sounds like he should be ready for the opener. We've nudged Reddick down the IDP rankings but still like him in DL1 territory.

The Eagles have agreed to a 3-year, $45 million deal with former Panthers DE Haason Reddick, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. The deal includes $30 million in guarantees and could reach $49.5 million in total money. Reddick took a 1-year "prove it" deal with Carolina as a 2021 free agent -- and he proved it. Reddick followed a 12.5-sack breakout in Arizona with 11 more sacks and a career-high 18 QB hits with the Panthers. Reddick could see time at either end for the Eagles, who have a bit more sorting out to do at DE. Josh Sweat is coming off an emergent campaign -- that saw him play on the left side most often -- while Brandon Graham is coming off injury and heading into his age-34 campaign.

We're a bit surprised that Reddick didn't find more on the open market after more than doubling his career sack total with 12.5 for the Cardinals in 2020. But he lands in Carolina with his college coach (HC Matt Rhule) and likely in an edge rotation with Brian Burns and Yetur Gross-Matos. If this landing spot gives Reddick DE designation for IDP leagues, then it'll be a solid fantasy outcome for him. His arrival can't hurt a defense that posted the 12th-lowest pressure rate in 2020, but Reddick will need to show it was more than a 1-year flash.

The Cardinals have replaced LB Haason Reddick in base defense with Joe Walker, Cards Wire reports. “I think Joe Walker, right now, has earned the right to play the base downs and Haason, right now, is better at playing the sub downs.” Reddick had been delivering nice fantasy numbers for us, but he'll be useless as a sub-package player. Walker also won't carry much value if he's still sharing the position with Reddick.
