Commanders DE Chase Young remains on the PUP list, and HC Ron Rivera doesn't make it sound like he expects the player back soon. “He’s been working hard,” Rivera said Tuesday, according to Ben Standig of The Athletic. “His rehab’s been going well from what we’ve seen and what we understand. But you never really know until you get to get your hands back on him. But Chase Young is probably the one that’s going to take the most time. It was serious, obviously, and any time you’re talking about an ACL, it’s just down the line. We’ll have to wait and see on that one.” In addition to tearing his right ACL, Young also damaged the patella in that knee. Young is expected to take longer to return than teammate TE Logan Thomas, who suffered his ACL tear in December. "Different type of injury," Rivera said, in comparing the 2. Young will make for a high-risk IDP selection at least until he's back on the field. At this point, he's far from a lock to be ready for the regular-season opener. We have moved him further down our 2022 IDP rankings.
The Commanders are trading Edge Chase Young to the 49ers for a third-round pick. The move comes on the same day Washington sent Edge Montez Sweat to the Bears for a second-rounder. The Commanders had clearly decided they either wouldn't or couldn't re-sign either contract-year player. In Young's case, the team had already declined the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. Young joins a San Francisco defense that likely won't need him to be an every-down player, especially right away. But the 49ers clearly believe their pass rush needs an upgrade. They previously added former Broncos Edge Randy Gregory. We'll see about Young's early role with his new team, as well as whether San Francisco plans to try to keep him around beyond this season.
Commanders Edge Chase Young is inactive for today's game against the Cardinals. He was limited in practice all week with a neck injury. We'll see about Young's status heading into Week 2. He's a risk-reward IDP option overall. We're not downgrading the Washington defense for today's high-ceiling matchup with the Cardinals.
Commanders EDGE Chase Young (ACL recovery) is officially questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants. HC Ron Rivera said Friday that Young will be a game-time decision. The 3rd-year player shouldn't be in your IDP plans either way.
Commanders EDGE Chase Young (ACL recovery) is inactive for today's game against the Falcons. We'll see if Young is ready for Week 13. A bye the following week might factor into whether he plays.
Commanders EDGE Chase Young is not expected to play Sunday against the Falcons, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. He's officially questionable and will participate in warmups. We'll need to see Young in game action before considering him for IDP lineups.
