Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz (knee) is inactive for tonight's game vs. the Giants. That leaves Dallas with TEs Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot. Ferguson has run 12 pass routes to Hendershot's 6 so far this season.
The Texans have agreed to a one-year deal with TE Dalton Schultz worth "up to $9 million," according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. It has to be a disappointing contract for a guy Dallas franchise-tagged just last offseason. But it sounds like about the same contract Mike Gesicki is getting from the Patriots. Schultz opened his career with two quiet seasons (13 total catches) in Dallas, before breaking out in 2020. He then averaged 4.1 receptions and 41.7 yards per game over the past three years. Bet on the Houston offense being worse than the Cowboys unit Schultz is leaving. But Houston's top three pass-catchers currently look like WR Robert Woods, WR Nico Collins, and WR John Metchie. So there's target-share opportunity. Of course, we'll also see who the new starting QB will be. The Texans figure to select that guy early in the NFL Draft. We're not excited about Schultz at his current TE12 best ball ADP. He could become more interesting, though, if he drops significantly below that.
Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz roped in 7 of 8 targets for 95 yards and 2 TDs in Monday’s Wild Card victory vs. the Buccaneers. Teammate WR CeeDee Lamb also performed well, snagging 4 of 6 his targets for 68 yards and a score of his own. This pair made a tremendous difference in the outcome of this game and will look to continue this success against the 49ers next weekend in the Divisional Round. Though the 49ers’ defense ranks 7th in Football Outsiders’ pass defense DVOA this season, we did see Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf eclipse the century mark in receiving yards with 2 TDs on Saturday. Perhaps QB Dak Prescott and company could replicate that success in the next round.
Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz led the team in targets (10), receptions (6) and receiving yards (87) in Sunday's narrow escape from the Texans. He beat everyone else on the team by 4 looks. WR Noah Brown checked in 2nd with 85 yards on 4 catches (6 targets). WR CeeDee Lamb (5-33) and WR Michael Gallup (2-40) matched Brown's target count. Dallas heads to Jacksonville -- the 3rd-best WR-scoring matchup in the league -- in Week 15.
Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz snagged both of Dallas' TD passes in Sunday's win over the Giants. He totaled 4 catches for 31 yards, with scores from 15 and 6 yards out. The Cowboys' backup TEs found significant involvement, too. Peyton Hendershot claimed a 2-yard rushing score in the 4th quarter, and Jake Ferguson caught all 3 of his targets for 57 yards -- including a 30-yarder in the 4th quarter that was Dallas' longest play of the day. Schultz will need to do better than his 13.3% target share from this game, but he still checked in 3rd on the team in that category and has been consistently good for fantasy football lineups when healthy.
Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Bears. He was limited in practice all week after aggravating that knee injury again last Sunday. Schultz won’t be at 100% today, leaving him as a shaky fantasy play.
